What is worth choosing
When considering a martial arts school in the Washington area, a local user might look for a variety of factors, and Kickboxing Academy-Brian Johnson Karate presents a mixed experience. On one hand, the school offers a very broad range of martial arts disciplines. This is a significant advantage for those who want to explore different styles like Muay Thai, kickboxing, and Jiu-jitsu all under one roof. The potential for cross-training and a diverse learning environment is a compelling feature. The academy's commitment to accessibility, with wheelchair-accessible entrances and parking, is a positive and inclusive feature. However, a local user should be aware of a few potential drawbacks based on publicly available feedback. Some reviews mention a lack of structure in certain classes and a facility that may be outdated and have maintenance issues, such as odor and general wear. There are also concerning reviews from former members regarding inappropriate behavior and difficulty with membership contracts. This highlights the importance of an introductory visit before committing to a long-term contract. For those interested, it may be beneficial to take an introductory class to experience the environment firsthand, assess the facility, and determine if the training style aligns with their personal goals. The wide variety of classes is a strong point, but it's essential for new members to ensure the overall environment and contractual terms meet their expectations before signing up.

Kickboxing Academy-Brian Johnson Karate Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was a member of this gym for almost 2 years. I took all of the different types of classes that were offered here- muay thai kickboxing, karate, and juijitsu. I even enrolled my two young children into their children's martial arts classes. For a long time I was very happy with this place, and can concur with the quality of the classes offered...however, the reason I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone, at least not to any women, is because of one of the owner's- Brian Johnson, who runs this business with his wife, Dani Johnson. Almost from the beginning of my membership here, I experienced what I felt was excessive and inappropriate attention from Brian Johnson. He made some advances towards me that made me uncomfortable and that were not reciprocated. He attempted to interfere with any interactions I had with other male members and/or instructors. He very loudly made false accusations towards me in an apparent effort to alienate me from other members.
April 04 · kelly phoenixMe and my boyfriend saw positive reviews on Google, which were only a few and realized this was close to our house. We went in there. Everything looked good said he had special pricing on good till midnight (which turns out is the regular price for 12 months per his Yelp information). My boyfriend has done jujitsu before and I was interested in boxing so we each signed a contract for a year mainly, this was our fault for not taking an introductory course to look at the place ahead of time as we trusted the reviews, after only going for a couple of days we realize we did not like the facility. It was very outdated they said they have a gym and it's very basic and the area to change or dress is also old and worn out and small. Dressing room is barely functional. It also smelled very bad. Every time we went in for a session whether it was boxing or jujitsu, there are definitely better places around Lacey. My boyfriend also mentioned to me how it's not very structured and I agree with him because there's not an introductory class in boxing you find yourself having to split time between people who already are advanced, know combinations and people who are just starting I called Them and let them know if there was any way to cancel my membership as I didn't like the facility and there wasn't only uniquely classes for boxing. It was just kickboxing they told me that they would make a boxing schedule if I wanted to come in however, I told him that I didn't like the smell of the place and they say that they bleached the floors every night, but the floor is foam and I feel the moisture of people sweat and water with bleach just doesn’t mix well. The place is very outdated for me and I found better options elsewhere that were much cleaner and had a structured training schedule. I decided to stop going so now I have to pay $90 a month for a whole year when I won't even be going to this place because I can’t break the contract or they won’t cancel it.Waste of money. As soon as my boyfriend gets orders he is canceling his membership.
March 26 · natalie martinezI love taking cardio kickboxing here! They have wonderful instructors. I had never taken a kickboxing class before, but now I'm addicted. Easy to adjust to your fitness level and the other people in the class are great. I've never felt intimidated by the exercises or the other humans or atmosphere. Definitely recommend to anybody!!!
December 06 · ZoeI didn’t just join a gym 3 months ago, I joined a family. The support and camaraderie is the reason I keep going. It’s a good workout and challenging. Just what I needed in my life. Love my gym family.
March 27 · Heidi HeinitzMy family joined a few months ago and we’ve really enjoyed the convenience of being able to all show up together and get a work out on since kids and adult classes operate simultaneously.Everything from the jujitsu classes, circuit training, boxing and kickboxing have all been a lot of fun to learn. The coaches are all very friendly and helpful with any questions we’ve had about MMA.
