★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Hi, I'm Mia Starks and I've been and persevered as a dedicated and loyal martial artist in the discipline of Wushu Kung-Fu since October 2004 at USA Kung-Fu Studio. From my research and lessons I've learned that Wushu Kung-Fu is widely accepted as well as considered as a Shaolin Kung-Fu disciplined branch of Martial Arts. I think Sifu Sam Zhen is an amazing, but he and his dojo aren't inclusive of diversity when it comes to screening homophobic and sexist teachers like Sifu Jaimie and Sifu Danny, as I was often skipped or picked on by them with homophobic commentary, and sidelined in comparison of the male students such as Blue Belt Richard of the the USAKFStudio Castro Valley Branch. Sifu Jaimie detained me from earning my brown belt though I'd attended Castro Valleys studio faithfully wig practice for more than 7 months, which they frowned upon because Sifu Jaimie wished and told me Richard would get his brown belt first and I'd wait to earn my brown belt till Richard was belt senior to me, if I didn't soften my kicks and punches during kickboxing on my male Kung-Fu peers. And I'd hear slurs aimed at me such as the "N-Word," and called an monkey by many parents in the viewing lobby. However, I was tolerated and my dream to earning my 1st black belt degree has arrived on January 1st, 2025, and the students and teachers I've grown up with since 2004 means I'm 20 year's old of tenure as their faithful practitioner and still part of an amazing community for being mostly tolerated. They, students plus staff can be impatient with students who have mental health injuries and with students who are Pro-LGBTI+ as well though, pushing harder with practice usually compensates worth. The Sifus operate with a don't-ask don't-tell ruling especially when a female is lesbian, as the male students especially are a bit chauvinistic in my experience in both USAKFS-Alameda & USAKFS-Castro Valley, more abusive by name-calling when credit is due to a female practitioner. Bystanders are bully-enablers, unfortunately. BUT, USA Kung-Fu Studio has helped carve my spirit into one that appreciates the, and I am delighted to be able to represent this delight, by committing to the endurance of hard-work and conditioning within exercising; and my education in Yoga from WRC-Seneca Center combined with Kung-Fu and other MMA arts I know of like my yellow belt in Karate from W.W.K.A. has me modeling myself make 3D-CAD come true through dedication to martial arts and exercise. My favorite martial arts is Kung Fu, guys and ladies, I'm guessing I'm a little upset because I'm stranded in Fresno, California, USA 3 hours away from Alameda, CA, USA, and I'm wondering when you're going to notice that I Mia have protected and served in your honor as a representer of the Mental Health Worker-Military Martial Arts division, paving a way for people to stay safe in places that seem hopeless. I am a UC Berkeley Cal BASc, Bachelor's of Science Alumni with a 10.00 GPA in Mathematics & Computer Science, from the graduating class of 2024, and yes, my credentials can be found on www.linkedin.com!
August 14 · Mia R. StarksMy 8 year old daughter just started her classes and she is already in love with the trainers. Really good place with great vibes! Fun for kids and good trainers!
January 25 · Chris RachowiczI have observed a few youth training classes and I think the sifu's are so patient and make the training fun. The kids enjoy coming here and eventually get serious about learning after being comfortable. If I lived here, I might train here.
November 23 · Garry YI cannot speak more highly of USA Kung Fu! My son is on spectrum and can often be.... difficult. I explained our situation to the staff and they were more than happy to take him on. They've been extremely accommodating. The staff actually focuses on my son's positive qualities, and it's so been so refreshing. Even on bad days, they have something positive to say. As a special needs parent, I find that a company like this is very rare. I'm extremely grateful for them. 100% recommended.
January 06 · Cassandra McKissickThis seems like a great place for learning kung-fu so far. My almost 6 year old daughter just started and I like it a lot so far. It's just fast paced enough for the kids not to be bored but not so fast that they can't keep up. It also requires memory for routines which is good. Not enough memorization in school anymore for younger kids. It'll keep their bodies and minds fresh during summer vacation and beyond. It's been over 6 months now and both of my kids are involved. They both like it a lot. The Sifus are great! The owner is very actively involved which is fantastic! He is very high energy and always happy which keeps the vibes good!!9 months later my kids both love this place! The Sifus are great with the kids. And the TAs are awesome!!!It's been over a year now for the little one and both kids are progressing nicely. I wouldn't change anything! Great job guys! Both kids are still doing great here. Kids can be a bit lazy and not want to go sometimes but I always make them because it's well worth knowing the life skills that are taught here.
