★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've trained at three prior dojos in my early years with my last one prior to joining Takahashi being JKA, Shotokan. They were all good, but none compared to Takahashi Dojo, which I enthusiastically joined in 1986. If you're seeking traditional karate training, providing a balanced training experience (basics, kata, and sparring) along with great people to workout with, you'd be hard put to find a better dojo. All ages and gender are welcomed. The only requirements are enthusiasm, dedication, and respect for others!
May 23 · Rafael AlgarinI started Shotokan Karate in Jan 1980 in Santa Monica CA. When I moved to NY in Feb 1984, my goal was find a Dojo that was as good or better (tough target). I trained at several different karate dojos but nothing really clicked until someone at a bookstore mentioned Sensei Takahashi's Dojo in Mt. Kisco. All it took was one class training with Sensei Takahashi to realize my goal had been achieved. I've been training with him and the other folks at the Mt. Kisco Takahashi Karate Dojo even since. Never took a break, never looked around; I found what I was looking for. Now it's 41 years later, and still going strong. There is no other path for me. If you are looking for traditional Shotokan style karate, with an incredible 8th Dan instructor, this is the place to be.
March 20 · Rick KingI was looking for a traditional karate school for my 7 year old son. Having trained in another style for many years - many years ago - I visited several schools across Westchester county observing classes until I found the right dojo. Excellent teaching from experts in Shotokan, attention to detail, good discipline but not overdone for kids, and a warm, passionate base of fellow students. After 23 years of not practicing karate, and despite a longer drive to Mt. Kisco for us, I not only enrolled my son but joined him as a fellow student in 2016. Can't say enough good things about Takahashi Karate, Sensei and the black belts who support the dojo.
January 04 · Christopher Winfrey8 dan karate master teaches every class with individual attention, friendly members, children and adult classes 4x a day - can't find better than this! that explains why some families have been coming here for 3 generations!
December 24 · Jim RiellyI've been training under Sensei Takahashi since February 1981. Join us if you're looking for the authentic experience.
