H. Won Tai Chi Chuan Association Introduce
In the bustling heart of New York City, finding a place dedicated to calm, focus, and physical discipline can feel like a rare gem. Yet, for those seeking a profound and authentic martial arts experience, the H. Won Tai Chi Chuan Association stands as a beacon. Located right here in the city, this institution offers a genuine path to learning traditional Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. It's more than just a series of movements; it's a deep-rooted practice that cultivates both internal strength and a sense of enduring wellness. For decades, students have walked through its doors, not just to learn a martial art, but to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal development, guided by a master with a deep understanding of the art's true essence. This is a place where patience and perseverance are rewarded with tangible results, making it an ideal choice for New Yorkers looking for a meaningful and long-lasting activity.
H. Won Tai Chi Chuan Association is not your average gym or wellness studio. It's a sanctuary for those who understand that true strength comes from within. The training here is focused on the rare and highly sought-after concept of internal power. As one long-time student shared, this is the place to "develop the highly sought after internal power" that many modern Tai Chi schools overlook. The atmosphere is one of serious study and dedication, where students are guided through traditional forms and practices that have been passed down through generations. This is a place for those who are willing to put in the time and effort, knowing that the rewards—a continuously developing sense of internal strength and wellness—are well worth the commitment. The school’s reputation is built on the profound knowledge and dedication of its teacher, Sifu Gim, who is highly respected for his deep expertise and ability to manifest and teach internal power in a way that is truly transformative for his students.
The journey to mastering Tai Chi here is described as "long and arduous," but the consensus among students is that it is incredibly fulfilling. This is a testament to the quality of instruction and the authenticity of the practice. Unlike more high-impact martial arts, Tai Chi Chuan as taught here is a form that can be practiced for a lifetime, "well into the old age," and without the "blood and bruise of the most kungfu styles." It offers a path to physical and mental fitness that is gentle on the body yet profoundly powerful. This school offers a rare opportunity to learn from a true lineage holder—Sifu Gim is noted as a sixth-generation direct descendant of the Yang family, a fact that speaks volumes about the authenticity of the training. This is a crucial detail for anyone in New York seriously interested in the traditional martial arts, as such direct lineage is not common. The school’s focus on the traditional aspects of Tai Chi, including its martial applications and internal power, sets it apart from many of the more recreational or fitness-oriented classes found throughout the city. Students are not just going through the motions; they are truly learning a martial art with deep historical and philosophical roots.
The H. Won Tai Chi Chuan Association is conveniently located in a bustling and accessible part of the city. You'll find it at 25 Division St, on the 3rd floor, in the heart of New York, NY 10002. This prime location in Chinatown makes it easily reachable for anyone living in or commuting to downtown Manhattan. Its proximity to major subway lines and bus routes ensures that getting to class is straightforward. For those who drive, public transportation is a stress-free alternative. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If you want a martial art form that you could continue well into the old age and without the blood and bruise of the most kungfu styles, H Won Tai Chi is for you. Here you will learn the authentic Yang style as passed down through the family, train in the rare opportunity of pushing hands with an amusing master/teacher, and develop the highly sought after internal power. The training will be long and arduous, but patience and perseverance will pay off. Such as I, having studied in the school for 16 years and feeling the strength continuously developing inside of me, I can honestly say it was well worth it.如果你想学习真正的太极拳就来这里。金师傅是杨家太极拳的第六代嫡传,内功深厚。你能学到杨家的挙法刀法枪法剑法以及快拳和双人套路。而且能练上内功及其的使用。这是你明智的选择。
April 10 · H WangI studied Tai Chi Chuan in my 20's under different instructors, and while I learned the forms and did push hand training, I felt something was missing. I'm so happy that I kept searching until I found Sifu Gim, and the search is over. What makes Sifu Gim a great teacher is that he is knowledgeable of the internal power and manifests it in manners that are unbelievable to a passerby. He also helps us develop this internal power through continuous training. There is only so much that can be explained here, really come experience and feel the internal power!
April 10 · maxime7117This school follows the Classical Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan lineage and uses traditional teachings to build as well as refine one’s internal energy. This internal strength lends to practical applications inside/outside the school and throughout life. Having studied under various forms of martial arts (taekwondo, shaolin kung fu, etc.), I have never felt stronger than I do now. Sifu Gim is an extraordinary Master and the students are a great group that learn and develop as a family.

April 09 · 굿리치맨In 2012 I decided to learn Martil Arts. What attracted me to Classical Yang Tai Chi Chuan is the famous 'internal power'.I reviewed many websites and watched youtube videos searching for someone who knew how teach it.As I read through Sifu Gim's website I instantly knew that that's who I wanted to learn from.Sifu Gim is the second disciple of Grandmaster Gin-Soon Chu, who is the second disciple of Grandmaster Yang, Sau-Chung, and Grandmaster Yang, Sau-Chung is the eldest son of Yang, Cheng-Fu. In terms of information, a disciple would have a lot more knowledge of the curriculum than a non-disciple.He can also cohrently explain the principles of Classical Yang Tai Chi Chuan and demonstrate them as well. He pays attention to the details. When he corrects us, the intention is to also teach us about the principles of the movement.Learning Classical Yang Tai Chi Chuan takes dedication. It's not something you can easily buy off the shelf in a supermarket. The dedication pays off in many different ways. For instance, you learn how to relax your mind and relax your body while at the same time transforming your energy into internal power. Of course all of what you learn translates into other areas of your life. Imagine being in a situation where being relaxed, while at the same time centered and balanced, can really help you.If you have the desire to be doing Tai Chi Chuan ... then this is the place to be doing itIf you have the desire to put in the time to train ... then this is the place to be doing itwelcome...The other day a friend asked me has it been worth it and the answer I gave him was 'absolutely yes'. Somehow I just know that I'm heading in the right direction.
