I've been going to Busto's with my dad for as long as I can remember, at this point almost 11 years, and it has been an absolutely amazing experience. As I enter into my freshman year of college and continue to come to Busto’s, I realize that, looking back, I have learned so much when it comes to discipline, respect, self-confidence, and, of course, self-defense. I have had amazing teachers and role models, all of whom have impacted and made a difference in my life, making me a better person. This especially extends to Shihan John Busto, who has truly given me so many opportunities to excel and has always pushed me to be my best self. As I continue on the path towards earning my Black Belt, I've made so many friends along the way and I truly recommend everyone gives it a try, because once you start you’ll only want to continue!!

I've been training with GM Norman Sandler for over 20 years, and Busto's Martial Arts has been our home for the last 10. Shihan John Busto is amazing, and he's got a talented team behind him. Everyone is friendly, and willing to help make each student the best martial artist possible. The variety is top notch whether you're looking to get into sparring, grappling, weapons, or Kenpo. Everyone is knowledgeable, and the level of instruction is impeccable. If you're fortunate enough to attend Busto's events, you're in for a treat. I've attended seminars with top tier martial artists including the late GM Dennis Tostin, GM Doreen DiRienzo, GM Velez, Master Zach Whitson, and Master Diane Tanaka. I travel down to Long Island from Westchester because this is the best place around for martial arts!

Shihan & Christine & the whole team are great! They have an amazing group of instructors who are so great with the kids!! I love how they rotate small groups during class to keep the kids engaged and focused during class. The same way preK uses “centers”. Progress is very measurable each week when students are awarded stripes on their belt, earning their way to belt tests every 2-3 months. The ratio of instructors to students is great - always very well staffed! All the instructors find a perfect balance between teaching the kids to be focused, follow instructions, build confidence, techniques, and most importantly have fun! Shihan is very involved in all the classes, knows all the students & families, & promoting lots of family events such as annual picnic (which is a lot of fun!), special Mother’s Day/Father’s Day classes, holiday classes, & birthday parties! Highly recommend Busto’s!! Thank you Shihan! Keep up the great work setting a great example for all the students & community!!

I started at Busto’s Martial Arts when I was 3 years old. I grew up at this place and it’s become a second home to me. I have spent a lot of time and I can say first hand it’s very warm and welcoming open to anyone that walks through their doors. After so many years of being a student at this great studio I have become a teacher. Everyone at Busto’s values your time and presence recognizing your needs. Soccer, baseball, basketball - whatever. My son has now earned his half orange belt - over this last year, he's made outstanding advances in his ability to keep still and calm, he's learned mindfulness, self-discipline and so much more. All of the instructors work with him regularly and show him patience and compassion. Shihan (Master/head teacher) Busto is a good man, who participates in classes and directly with the kids. My son struggles with stillness and attention at times, and the instructors, as well as Shihan Busto, have been wonderful in working with him. If you're thinking about signing your child/children up for karate, this is the place!
