Martial Arts School
- Karate $90.00
In general, kung fu/kungfu or gung fu/gongfu refers to the Chinese martial arts, also called wushu and quanfa. In China, it refers to any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete. There are many forms of kung fu, namely Shaolin Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Tai chi, etc. and are practiced all over the world. Each form of kung fu has its own principles and techniques. It is only in the late twentieth century, that this term was used in relation to Chinese martial arts by the Chinese community. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the term "kung-fu" as "a primarily unarmed Chinese martial art resembling karate."
- Kickboxing
- Tai chi $90.00
The ancient Chinese practices of tai chi and qi gong (pronounced CHEE-gung) combine slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises. The routines were not designed to burn calories or raise your heart rate. Instead, both tai chi and qi gong are martial arts that can help your circulation, balance, and alignment. They can also help restore your energy, called chi or qi (pronounced "chee"). The low-impact moving meditations include standing and balancing. Although qi gong and tai chi are excellent fitness activities for beginners and people with health conditions, elite athletes also benefit from doing the slow movements, because everyone needs better balance and muscle control. The postures flow together without pause, making qi gong and tai chi look like slow, graceful dances that keep your body in constant motion. You can take a class or do the exercises outdoors, on your own, or with a group.

Win-Win Kung Fu Culture Center Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been practicing for over 2 years now, and have added multiple classes to my weekly rotation.I started with Wushu, and training with Master Kate has been amazing. She's knowledgable, and has the patience to work with adults and children alike. Strict, yet freindly, understanding where each of her students are in their martial arts journey.Having had Private classes with Master Bao (the owner) and Master Gina, I can with say with certainty the staff all cares very deeply not only for the martial art, but the community as well.I started in Tai chi in early October, both Chen and Yang forms, training Chen with Master Bao, and Yang with Master Kate has provided an insight and allowed me to get closer to the center that I seek that helps me to be a better version of me.Both Masters Kate and Gina are national champions and have combined nearly 40 years of experience between them. The insight and instruction they both provide to the forms we're currently practicing is thorough and encouraging. When we don't do something quite right, they're right there to point it out in a constructive and encouraging manner, ensuring to answer any questions we might have.I'm also taking Strength and Skills with Melissa and Ivan, Melissa is teaching wellness, general strength and mobility training, where Ivan teaches Kick Boxing with a focus on overall health and mobility. They're both creative in the workouts they present, working diligently to keep the class motivated to keep moving and working torwards our individual goals. If we can't do something due to a medical condition, they help find alternatives that can get the same results without causing further injury. In short, since I started practicing Kung-Fu at Win-Win, I've been able to step outside of my box, participate in competitions that people come from all over the country to participate in, perform in front of large crowds and have gained some of the years back that I had lost in previous years from living a fully sedentary lifestyle. I am lighter, stronger, more flexible, and more confident in myself than I was in highschool, all due to the staff and community that keeps me coming back week after week.Put in the work, Love what you do, and reap the rewards! Age doesn't matter!
March 28 · Charles GThis is a fantastic place to explore Chinese martial arts. They have knowledgeable, friendly instructors and the school culture is extremely welcoming. I have trained Sanda here and most recently started training Chen tai chi due to a back injury. The tai chi training has help my back immensely, reducing my pain significantly.
September 09 · Jason SwansonI have been studying at Win Win for five years now and it has been one of the best decisions ever. I’ve come from nearly a decade of other martial arts, and practicing Wushu and Taijiquan have been a refreshing way to pick up martial arts again. We’ve had great opportunities to share our culture within the community and compete at national levels. Master Bao and Master Kate are extremely patient and incredibly knowledgeable teachers! In addition to the great training environment, everyone here is like a family, extremely supportive and welcoming.
June 25 · Allen PengAuthentic Chinese Martial Arts. Sometimes you don't know how good a school is until many moons later. Be like the Chinese learn and judge based on experience.
February 06 · Michael BalsamicoI want to give Win-Win Kung Fu Culture Center 100 stars if I could have that option. The reason I am saying that is because Win-Win Kung Fu is the best place you can find to learn Kung fu in Pittsburgh. Both of my kids have been learning Kung Fu for one and half years. My son started from 10 years old and my daughter started from 7 years old. Both of them attend two times a week during school days and tree times a week during winter or summer breaks. If I have the second choice to go back to 5 years ago, I would let my son come to Win- Win when he was 5 years old because it really help him to be deciplined boy and to be a big brother. Thank you, Master Katie and Master Bo to work so hard to run this center for the community.
