★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We love it here! Our daughter started after getting picked on in school. WestWind has taught her so much, including confidence, skills, and also weekly values that help make a good person. Nice and helpful instructor as well. Best choice we’ve made for her!
July 16 · Kate ParmaI was a student at Westwind Karate for four years. I started karate as an activity to do with my son. He eventually lost interest, but I kept taking lessons because I genuinely enjoyed learning the self-defense techniques. It also yielded benefits for my physical health. The owner, Sean Kaneshiro, is one of the nicest human beings on the planet. His staff are excellent teachers. They support growth at all ages. There are classes specifically designated for young children. The "general" classes had everything from kids to teens to middle-aged folks like myself and even some older than me.The staff are well-trained to accommodate a wide variety of abilities and disabilities. When I was coming back from a major surgery, my teachers adapted the exercises and techniques to help me protect my recovering knee. Many of us "older" students had a variety of health issues, and it was no problem for their curriculum. I also witnessed their sensitivity and kindness in working with folks with learning disabilities and behavioral or mental health challenges.Westwood takes a holistic approach to body and mind. It's not just about self-defense techniques; they also emphasize healthy choices and physical fitness. Younger students who want to advance to a higher belt have to bring a report from school showing that they are in good academic standing. The end of each class session features a "message of the week" that encourages the students to reflect about values like perseverance and goal-setting.
July 10 · Sean RaleighMy son is in the Early Skills classes. WestWind Karate has done wonders for his self-discipline, following directions, and fine motor skills, plus he is having lots of fun too! We are excited to watch his accomplishments continue here over the years ahead!
May 12 · Damon KlebeMy kids love coming here. The instructors are so great with the kids and they actually care if they succeed. We love WestWind. I'm excited to see how well my kids continue to do
July 23 · Mindy HerreraMy son and I have been going to karate here for about a year. Not only is it a fun activity for us to do together, it has helped my back pain so much! Before it was difficult for me to stand or walk for long periods of time. Westwind worked with me modifying movements and I’m very happy to report that I have not experienced this issue in quite some time now. I credit this to karate! It’s been life changing to be able to be more active daily. Thanks westwind!!!
