West Side Tae Kwon DO Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I'm sorry to hear of the negative experience of others (sounds like two reviews regarding one student's experience...?). My teenage son earned his black belt here after several years; my younger daughter is now well on her way after a few years of starting, losing interest, getting discouraged, and then finding her groove; and I myself recently moved from the sidelines to start my own journey (never too late, and only what I can safely handle). Over close to ten years, I've seen multiple instructors work with a huge range of students of all ages, from pee-wee to adult, always focusing on bringing out what is most effective and powerful in the student. I teach adult learners myself, and I see how people learn in different ways. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to put someone else's words or movements into action in your own body and mind. All I can say is, I have seen and experienced amazing growth in many students over the years, so I recommend Westside Taekwondo to anyone and everyone with the slightest bit of interest or curiosity!
August 15 · L LOur son has been with West Side TKD for several years now and loves it. He started as a white belt and has made the progression to black. Master Lim is both caring and strict, everything you'd expect from a martial arts teacher, and our son has benefited from his guidance. The other instructors and his fellow students are also collegial and encouraging, and that's inspired him to thrive in this school. I can't recommend this school enough, and look forward to my son continuing his TKD journey there.
August 02 · Yao ChewMy oldest has been at Westside taekwondo for six years and my youngest for almost 2 years. Master Lim strives to help his students with focus and achieve great technique. That same care and focus to details is what my children exhibit in the classroom setting. TKD with Master Lim has been a great foundation.
July 25 · Rita DorganIf you're drawn to the allure of an authoritarian instructor, displaying an alarming lack of professionalism, casually disregarding respect for both you and your cherished children - all under the deceptive guise of discipline or expertise - then, by all means, look no further! However, as a concerned parent, I cannot fathom subjecting my precious little one to such an environment. No, absolutely not. This individual remains unapologetically obstinate even when proven wrong, and desperately requires substantial guidance in imparting discipline lessons devoid of cruel humiliation. My time spent there was nothing short of a horrifying ordeal. Master Lim, without a moment's hesitation, finds delight in publicly shaming innocent children before their peers and their vulnerable parents. Spare yourself the anguish and invest your valuable time elsewhere. Trust me, there are far better training centers to be found in vibrant New York City.
June 01 · Thomas Rogersif you’re into the master teacher, showing a lack of professionalism, speaking flippantly and without respect to you or your children - under the guise of discipline or experience.. then this is your place! as for me, i wouldn’t send my little one there. there’s no way. he’s unapologetic when he’s wrong about something - and needs great assistance in issuing lessons of discipline without humiliation. save yourself some time, search around.. there are other places to train in nyc.
