The studio’s unique offering of a wide variety of arts, including Aiki Ju Jutsu, Jo-jutsu (bow staff), and Ken-jutsu (sword), is a significant draw for serious practitioners. It is a rare opportunity to train in such a comprehensive system under one roof. The training is designed to be beneficial both in and out of the dojo, with lessons that translate into real-world values of discipline, perseverance, and respect. Traditional Martial Arts Society Reviews
senseis
★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1What I really enjoy training at TMAS is not only the willingness of the instructors to teach you how to protect yourself, but also their microscopic attention to detail to ensure that you are doing the techniques properly and responsibly. The instructors help instill values of accountability and hard work, that would benefit anyone both in and out of the dojo. I had the privilege of training aiki-jujutsu, jo-jutsu (bow staff), and ken-jutsu (sword), which is very rare to find all under one dojo.Sensei White and Urich are very open to questioning and even encourage introspection. Moreover, they emphasize having control of your techniques to the point where injuries are very unlikely. Hence I find the review by the "John Doe" below very puzzling. I'm not even sure if he trained at TMAS, based on his review.
August 16 · S KotaMy 13 year old has trained with TMAS for the past 3 years in the youth class. TMAS is a professional martial arts studio with tremendous instructors (senseis). Their style of training and discipline is perfect. I have 3 years of martial arts training, and am very pleased with this studio. I would highly recommend this martial arts studio.
August 27 · Joel RThe best way to describe TMAS is that it is real martial arts. You will learn how to defend yourself in real situations using techniques that will work. They don't pander by teaching visually impressive but impractical techniques, and they don't "Guarantee a black belt in two years or less!" as some dojos will. Training is rigorous and hands on, with sparring exercises being a routine occurrence. Class sizes are also typically rather small, so there is plenty of individualized attention from the senseis.I really can't speculate as to who this "John Doe" might be. I have been here for ten years, and I have never seen or heard of anyone being permanently scarred, and certainly not by one of the senseis. Frankly, injuries are an inevitable aspect of any sport, and that's especially true for martial arts. As for black belts punishing students who have "fallen," I kind of wish we did do something like that. That sounds pretty hard-core.
August 17 · Sam WatersExcellent instructors. Go above and beyond.
July 08 · Hussein ZalzaleGreat teachers. I don't regret training at this dojo.
