The Kazoku Dojo Introduce
For residents of Canal Winchester and the surrounding communities in Ohio, finding a place that offers both practical skills and personal growth can be a challenge. The Kazoku Dojo, a prominent martial arts school in the area, provides an exceptional opportunity to learn valuable life skills in a supportive and structured environment. More than just a place to practice martial arts, it is a community—a "dojo family"—where individuals of all ages can build confidence, learn discipline, and gain a sense of belonging. The school specializes in two distinct disciplines: Jiu-Jitsu and Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, both of which are rooted in practical, real-world self-defense. This focus on effectiveness makes The Kazoku Dojo a top choice for anyone serious about personal safety and physical development. The atmosphere is friendly and encouraging, making it a welcoming place for beginners who might feel nervous about starting a new journey. The instructors are passionate about their craft and dedicated to helping every student, from the youngest "Little Ninja" to an adult, reach their full potential, ensuring that the skills they learn will last a lifetime.
The positive experiences of families who train at The Kazoku Dojo are a testament to the school's impact. One parent shared how their son, Jace, has grown so much since joining, with skills that will serve him a lifetime. Another parent was so impressed they enrolled their second son, Ezekiel, in the "Little Ninjas" program. They described his love for it as an "understatement," highlighting how he is always happy to be on the mat with his friends. The curriculum, particularly for the younger students, is designed to be a blend of fun and structure, teaching "hard things" in an engaging way. Young children learn essential skills like body control, and they are also introduced to some Japanese language and its meaning, adding a cultural layer to their training. The expectations for maturity in classes like "Little Ninja 2" are perfectly fine with parents, who are grateful their children are learning skills that will follow them for the rest of their lives. Another parent of a 5-year-old daughter noted how the dojo has been great for her body coordination, listening, following directions, and respecting her teachers. These testimonials consistently point to the same thing: The Kazoku Dojo is more than a place to learn to fight; it's a place to learn to live with discipline, respect, and confidence.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1May 26, 2022... that is the day that we joined The Kazoku Dojo. Our son Jace has grown so much and the skills he has learned will serve him a lifetime. For more on him, see my previous review.Since moving to the New Dojo space in Canal Winchester, we have signed up our Ezekiel for Little Ninjas. To say he Loves it, is an understatement. He is always happy to get on the mat with his friends. He has learned so much since the opening. The Little Ninjas 1 & 2 teach fun and structure. They are leaning hard things and they are all rocking it. Ezekiel has learned how to have control over his body, he has learned some Japanese and the meaning of the words he is saying. When he is doing the Little Ninja 2 class, he is expected to be more mature (he just turned 6) and that is perfectly fine with me.These kids are getting it, they are learning, and I as a parent am very grateful that my boys are learning skills that will follow them for the rest of their lives.
November 08 · Cassandra RidgwayWe’ve had a great experience at the Kazoku Dojo so far! My 5 yo daughter started 3 months ago and it’s been great for her in helping with body coordination, listening and following directions, & respecting her teachers. We’re happy to have found the dojo family!
November 08 · Kelsey JohnsonSensei Eric and the whole team does wonderful with the kids! My oldest son is learning so many skills that he could need in the future to defend himself (unfortunate to say, but with the way the world is these are skills that he'll most likely need to use some day). He's showing more confidence and discipline just from the short month that he's been attending classes! Both my daughter and my youngest son have told me that they hope to start training there as well once they're a little older, and I fully plan to sign them up! I'd definitely recommend having your kids train at the Kazoku Dojo or even signing up to train yourself!
July 21 · Kristina McCoyI will preface this review with we are coming into this with some experience from another Dojo. My son started with already having quite a bit of experience from a previous Dojo. We moved to Ohio and needed to find another one for him. I was completely fine with my son starting over as a white belt. Every Dojo has different requirements and I think it was good for him to learn different ways & skills. My 4 year old had a lot of fun doing this however, the website says they separate the 4-6 yr olds and the 7-8 yr olds. They don't. The classes are more geared towards a 4 year old and my 8 year old son was not learning actual techniques. It was a chaotic class of games that barely touched on the skills of martial arts. I really cannot justify paying $100 per kid per month for 30 mins 3x a week of kids running around playing games meant for kindergartners. Before we moved to Ohio, we paid $150 a month for two kids 3x a week with 45 min lessons. The class was taught by an actual Sensei who was able to keep the class focused with high energy fun technical training that kept them engaged the entire time. I do believe this place has a lot of potential. The owner seems really nice and we really appreciated him letting us try out the facility. I just think they need to separate the kiddos like they state they do on their website. I feel like the learning environment will be less chaotic and more educational.
September 06 · Emily FlanaganI have enrolled my son now for 3 weeks, going on a month, such a friendly family environment. They welcomed with open arms. My son is 6 years old and has made many friends already and has learned so much with no experience prior. He ask everyday if it’s Dojo time. The teachers are amazing, so patient and kind with the ninjas. We couldn’t be happier! Can’t wait to continue learning here.
