Rou Long Ma School of Chinese Martial Arts Introduce
Rou Long Ma School of Chinese Martial Arts, located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, is a distinguished institution dedicated to the preservation and teaching of traditional Chinese martial arts. Unlike many modern schools that focus on a single aspect of martial arts, Rou Long Ma offers a holistic and well-rounded education in both external and internal disciplines. The school's curriculum centers on Northern Fist Kung Fu, a powerful external style, and Yang Style Taijiquan, a renowned internal art. The name "Rou Long Ma" itself, which translates to "soft/pliable dragon horse," speaks to the school's philosophy of blending soft and hard techniques, and of using an opponent's force against them. This approach makes it a valuable destination for anyone in the North Carolina region seeking to learn authentic Chinese martial arts for self-defense, health, and personal growth.
The school’s instructors, Sifu Martin and Sifu Adames, are highly praised by their students for their skill, experience, and in-depth knowledge. As one former student who trained for nearly two years noted, both instructors are "incredible martial artists, very skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable." This student, who was forced to step away due to "life obstacles," still "miss training with them immensely" and "highly recommends them to anyone interested or pursuing Chinese Martial Arts." The review also offers a spirited challenge to "Tai Chi haters," confidently stating, "Sifu Martin will make a believer out of you...trust me!" This personal endorsement speaks volumes about the quality of instruction and the transformative power of the training. Another student praised both teachers for taking their time to "explain postures and applications in detail and pay attention to correct feet, knee and hip positions so you will strengthen those areas rather than injure them." This attention to detail and a focus on proper form ensures that students build a strong foundation and train safely.
Rou Long Ma is not just a school; it is a "Jia" or "family-based system" that is common in traditional Chinese martial arts. This means the environment is less regimented and more centered on a family concept, which fosters a close-knit and supportive community. Students at this school are taught that Kung Fu, which literally translates as "an accomplishment earned through hard work," is a journey of self-discipline and achievement. The well-rounded curriculum goes beyond fighting skills, also delving into the historical and philosophical aspects of the arts. This ensures that students gain a deep appreciation for the art form, understanding its roots in Daoist philosophy and its purpose "above that of simple self-defense." This commitment to traditional teachings and a friendly atmosphere makes Rou Long Ma a standout choice for those seeking an authentic and meaningful martial arts experience in Fayetteville.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was a student of Sifu Martin and Sifu Adames for nearly two years. Covid19 and then other life obstacles forced me to step away from my training, but I miss training with them immensely. Both men are incredible martial artists, very skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable of Northern Fist Shaolin Kung Fu and Yang Family Taijiquan. I want to get back there as soon as possible, and I highly recommend them to anyone interested or pursuing Chinese Martial Arts. And to all the Tai Chi haters out there, Sifu Martin will make a believer out of you...trust me!
