★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Sifu Larry Rice is been teaching for over 25 years, High caliber technician. You can tell the students that under his tutelage are high caliber also because, the way he teach the technique it works, Sifu Rice is under tutelage of Master/Sifu Francis Fong, Master/Sifu Dan Inosanto, Grandmaster Bobby Taboda ,Master Chai and Sifu Vic Payne masters that known all over the world! Sifu Rice also offers multiple disciplines so you can train from everything from Wing Chun,Filipino Martial Arts,Kali Escrima, Balintawak and Muay Thai. I highly recommend this school to everyone! very Aunthentic! These names--Jennifer Yuen,Marc Boutan ,Katie Blake ,and Kyle Twain---are just few of the fake names this person using. He is actually Sifu Rice's former student who came to class before to show off and never came to class with good intentions or to learn instead he's been disrespectful since the first day. This man have no gentleman etiquette. I would think his teacher would be very ashamed and disappointed if he is to find out what type of person this man really is. Sifu Larry Rice patience and professionalism is admiral and beyond aproach!
April 24 · Angelica RiceSifu Larry Rice is a phenomenal teacher and a true gentleman. I have been attending classes at the Academy in Asheville for five years and I love every minute. Sifu Rice has over 35 years of experience in martial arts and continues to train under a handful of the world's best instructors. He keeps the material alive and practical and encourages his students to discover what works for them as individuals. He is always respectful to newcomers regardless of their prior experience, and works hard to make his classes productive for everyone in attendance. In response to the review by "Katie Blake": You are sadly mistaken in your assessment of the reviews on this page. Although I have developed a great friendship with Sifu Rice, I am first and foremost his student. My review is genuine and heartfelt. My daughter is also a student and she did in fact write her own review of her own initiative. Angelica Rice is also in fact a student at the school. As a volunteer at the school, I manage the student log. All students are required to sign in every time they train. The name "Katie Blake" has never appeared in the log or in any application document. Nor have the names "Jennifer Yuen" or "Kyle Twain". I believe all of these reviews were written by a single person, who actually threatened to "ruin Sifu Rice's reputation on the internet". Creating multiple fake profiles for the sole purpose of hurting someone's reputation is a act that shows a lack integrity.Update: The other review by "Damon Kittles" is written by someone who is impersonating me. This is the same person who has written the other poor reviews.
March 05 · DamonI personally witnessed Larry Rice injuring the arm of a young female student. I also witnessed Larry Rice rupturing another student's ear drum in a fit of rage that caused permanent injury. I further saw him shove a teenage boy into a concrete wall. Nevertheless, I let him teach my preteen daughter. I am content to be a mindless follower of the cult of Larry Rice. Someday I will realize that my unquestioning loyalty was misguided, but only after my little girl is permanently injured.Demelza showed up for class once in two years. She has no idea what Sifu's demeanor is in class and did not witness the many assaults on the students. She is just the "wife" of a student and interestingly omits her last name to conceal this fact. Her "husband" can confirm that Larry Rice did, in fact, rupture a student's ear drum causing permanent damage, and wrench a young female student's arm who quit the school. What arrogance Demelza must have despite her lack of commitment to martial arts by never going to class to assert that her "guess" about what goes on in the school is more valid than a student who has personal, first hand knowledge of the school as a function of having almost perfect attendance during the same two year period. And blaming the victim of an assault is certainly unbecoming of a woman. How sad for her family and the people around her.
March 02 · Damon KittlesSifu Rice is a gentleman and a warrior. He has dedicated tremendous time and energy to the martial arts, and is a fluid teacher. He never lets his students get bored, and truly enjoys watching them progress. I have recommended him to many people!
March 02 · Stephen OpperAt first I thought it was cool that he was giving me so much attention even though I was a woman. After a while though it was just creepy. Be warned--Larry Rice systematically removes all bad reviews. The "five star" reviews were written by his sister, who has never trained at the school, and his best friend, who also wrote a fake review under his daughter's name.
