When choosing a gym or martial arts school in the Frederick, Maryland area, it is crucial to consider all aspects of the business. Kicks Karate, as a well-established institution, has many positive attributes that make it a compelling choice. The curriculum is comprehensive, the instructors are engaging, and the focus on life skills is a tremendous benefit for children and adults alike. Parents frequently commend the school for its ability to help their children build confidence and overcome shyness, noting that the positive and supportive environment helps kids thrive. For many, it becomes a "happy place" and a source of motivation.
However, it is also important for potential members to be fully informed about the business practices, particularly regarding contracts. While many testimonials praise the quality of instruction and the positive impact on students, some public feedback indicates challenges with contract cancellation. A review from a parent noted difficulties and a lack of responsiveness when trying to end a three-month contract, leading to continued charges. While this is one perspective and does not represent every experience, it highlights the need for careful consideration. It is always a good practice to thoroughly read and understand any contract before signing, and to ask specific questions about cancellation policies, particularly if you are unsure of your long-term commitment. Businesses often have specific requirements, such as written notice delivered in a particular way, that must be followed precisely to avoid issues.
Ultimately, the decision to join Kicks Karate comes down to your personal needs and priorities. On one hand, you have a gym and martial arts school with a strong reputation for developing well-rounded individuals through high-quality instruction and a positive environment. On the other, it is wise to be aware of the contractual obligations and practices, as they are a part of the overall customer experience. Kicks Karate is a destination for families who value a structured, fun, and character-building program. The free trial class is an excellent opportunity to experience the culture and instruction firsthand, allowing you to make an informed decision that is right for you and your family.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The classes are a hoot! My granddaughter loves to go; because they are constantly changing it up, and having a real good time!
March 24 · Steven GoldbergI was initially hesitant to enroll my son in Kicks due to previous difficulties we experienced when attempting to cancel a contract during the pandemic at the Urbana location with our eldest child. My 7-year-old was very excited to try karate, and I was convinced to proceed with a three-month commitment. My son attended the center for two weeks but was upset on his final day and chose not to return, and I am still unsure of the reason. I want to clarify that I hold no negative feelings towards the instructors, as we appreciated their efforts. However, I have contacted London twice via email and my husband has called multiple times in an attempt to cancel a three-month contract that we were still being charged for in the fourth month. Unfortunately, we have not received any response or callback from London. This situation suggests a potential strategy to prevent contract cancellation while continuing to issue charges.I am disappointed with this experience and will be cautious moving forward. As a parent of four boys and someone who interacts frequently with other parents, I feel it is important to share this experience to inform others about the business practices at this location.
June 23 · Patricia FlynnOur son is in the tiny tiger class (3-4 years old) the staff are great with this age group and he has a lot of fun in class. Mr Joel and Mr London are attentive and work well with the kids. *make sure to read your agreement before signing, you need to give at least 1 months notice to cancel, otherwise it automatically turns to month to month.
January 22 · Matt RotaMy son has loved Kicks Karate from the very start and stuck with it since nearly 1.5yrs now. Mr London and all his staff members are highly experienced, diligent, patient and friendly with the kids and really bring out the best in them. They meet the kid where they are and really nurture each to rise up. This is the best place for kids in town where they can engage in both physical and mental activity in one. On top of that, Kicks Karate also boosts and builds kids’ self control, regulation, confidence, body stability, awareness, discipline and first time listening. I highly recommend this place.
October 03 · Prachi ChopraThe kids love it. They are excited to kick and spar. Well dressed. Clean location. Staff seem very friendly. Sitting area for kids. Kids are also well protected with helmet and soft masks and soft shoes so it is quite safe
