★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been taking Master Huan’s Tai Chi class for almost two years, and it’s been such a great experience. When I first started, I didn’t have any background in Tai Chi, so things moved slowly at first. But little by little, I started noticing progress. The more I practiced, the more I understood and could follow along.Master Huan is very dedicated and really cares about teaching. He doesn’t just show the movements — he also explains their meaning and how they can be used in real life, which makes the class even more interesting. For me, this class has been a real gift. I genuinely enjoy being there. After a long day at work, it’s the perfect way to relax. I always leave feeling calm, and refreshed. If you’ve ever thought about trying Tai Chi, I highly recommend this class. It’s a great mix of learning, movement, and peace.
April 13 · Nicolais GuevaraI have been taking Xing Yi and Tai Chi classes at Huan's Tai Chi and Kung Fu for a little over a year, and appreciate the careful attention to detail and individualized instruction that makes every class both educational and enjoyable. Master Huan has a passionate, deep, and patient approach to teaching martial arts, drawing a consistent crowd of beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Not only that, but the group of students is friendly, open, and encouraging. March 27 · Li ZhangI found Huan’s school a few months ago after a long hiatus from kung fu (I studied a different style for 10 years in the past). Huan is an exception teacher whose depth of knowledge, ability, and experience is obvious in his teaching and his movements. He is very generous in his sharing of knowledge, and has a very approachable and clear teaching style. I am enjoying Xing Yi in particular and its focus on internal energy. I also appreciate when a martial arts school feels respectful and welcoming to female students, and can cater to all levels and backgrounds. Highly recommend.
March 27 · Jasmine MoranAs someone who does not have any martial arts experience, Master Huan creates a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere to newcomers! I appreciated that he emphasizes the purpose and function of the forms you practice versus simply memorizing poses and movements. He ensures that you understand why each movement is important and how it can be applied in practice. Highly recommend Huan’s Tai Chi and Kung Fu for those looking to challenge themselves and learn something new!
March 06 · Madeleine PouwSince 2000, I have dedicated myself to studying various tai chi styles. In January 2023, after relocating to Massachusetts, I was fortunate to further study tai chi under the guidance of MasterHuan Zhang and Sifu David Watts. My journey commenced at the Newton location, where I commenced a weekly beginner-level class. The Newton facility is spacious and comfortable, featuring hardwood gymnasium-like flooring, large windows, and a large dance studio-type mirror along a wall that facilitates observing Master Huan demonstrating the tai chi postures. Subsequently, I progressed to attending a second advanced class at the Cambridge location. Master Huan is an outstanding teacher, who employs an instructional approach that systematically dissects the intricate art of tai chi into manageable, comprehensible segments. He empowers his students to learn, enjoy, and develop themselves to their full potential through tai chi. His teaching methods make learning accessible and enjoyable, fostering a positive learning environment that enables students to learn more quickly and derive greater satisfaction from the process. By breaking down the postures into small, easily learnable segments, studentsregularly experience the gratification of mastering tai chi skills, boosting self-esteem and overall well-being. Once the students have mastered the movement, Master Huan introduces a tai chi principle, described the health-related benefits, anddemonstrates martial art applications for the move according to the students’ level of skill. Subsequently, the students engage incollaborative practice of the newly acquired movement, with the more experienced students providing guidance to their peers. This collaborative environment facilitates the further expansion of their comprehension and proficiency. Finally, Master Huan invites his seasoned students to assist him during his tai chi instruction sessions held at Castle Island and Symphony Park during thesummer months. Through these experiences of assisting others in learning the art, I gained an even more profound understanding of the discipline.
