★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been training at Wu An Martial Arts with Coach Tye Tonkin in the Sanda Fighting Arts program for about three years, and it’s been an incredible journey. I originally joined just to explore kickboxing for fitness, never imagining I’d go beyond that. But thanks to Coach Tye’s expert guidance and encouragement, I not only built my skills and confidence but also competed in my first light-contact tournament—and won! The program has been transformative, and I’m beyond grateful for the supportive and challenging environment. Highly recommend for anyone looking to push their limits and grow!
January 11 · Michael RichardsonI’ve been training at Wu An Martial Arts school for about a year now, as well as attending seminars and camps with Michelle and Jonathon for a few years, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. The school teaches Yang-style Tai Chi, with an emphasis on both the traditional form and its deeper internal principles. What sets Wu An apart is its authentic approach—you can feel the lineage and depth of the art in every class. The instructors strike a perfect balance between challenging and supportive. They create a space that’s friendly and encouraging, but they also push you to grow and refine your practice.I’ve learned not only how to move with better structure and intention, but also how to relax more deeply, both physically and mentally. The principles of Tai Chi have started to influence my life off the mat—helping me find calm in stressful moments and move through life with more awareness and balance.Whether you’re a beginner or looking to deepen your practice, I would highly recommend Wu An Martial Arts. It’s a rare place where traditional martial arts are kept alive with integrity and care, and where every student is truly supported on their journey.
June 14 · Karyl BulmerI highly recommend Wu An Martial Arts! I have been training with Coach Tye, Coach Michelle, and Coach Jon. All are very knowledgable and have advanced my practice tremendously. I enjoy Push Hands on Wednesdays and Tajiquan on Mondays. I also enjoy seeing the Sanda Fighting Arts people honing their Bokh and Shuai Jiao skills regularly. They also conduct regular work shops so that I can have a longer concentrated practice time with guidance. I recently did the Tai Chi Sword session and it was AMAZING!I am greatly looking forward to YMAA's Master Yang coming this spring as well.If you are looking for a great group with serious training and good times, look no further!
January 22 · Rose BigelowI have attended many martial arts schools, and Wu An is at the top of my list of schools I've been to. I have lost 50 pounds in the four months I have been here. I've participated in their Sanda (Chinese Kickboxing), Shuai Jiao (Chinese jacketed wrestling), and Qi Na programs.I've built friendships and confidence. Tye, Jon, and Michelle have been a big part of my journey. There are plenty of other martial arts programs I wish I had all the time for since my experience here has made me eager to learn more. I have lost weight and seen results with my movement, strength, and endurance. You'll grow, meet friends, and learn more about yourself here.Come on in!
November 29 · Stefan FischerI have been training under coaches Jon, Michelle, and Tye for several years and their knowledge of martial arts and dedication to teaching is unmatched! So much so that I have followed them to a number of different schools in order to continue training specifically with them, and I'm so excited that they finally have their own space! They are all incredibly knowledgable and students are able to access world-class instruction across a wide range of complimentary disciplines, including traditional tai chi and kung fu, as well as combat sport through the wrestling (shuai jiao) and sanda programs. The coaches have created a really welcoming and safe space for all students, where each person is encouraged to reach their full potential and pursue their goals for training. You will work really hard and do things you never thought you'd be able to do, but have such a fun time doing it that you'll come back again the next day for more!
