★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1From 2019 to 2021, my journey at Gracie Barra South Austin has been profoundly impactful. Under the leadership of Professor Alexandre “Dande” Ferreira, I have not only refined my Jiu-Jitsu skills, but I have also learned lessons that have shaped my character and worldview.Gracie Barra South Austin is not just a gym – it is a true family. The welcoming family environment makes each student feel part of something bigger, encouraging individual and collective growth. Here, women, children and practitioners of all ages and levels find a safe space. With the philosophy of “Jiu-Jitsu for All,” Gracie Barra South Austin has become a place where technique and the values of respect, discipline and resilience go hand in hand. It was in this environment that I learned fundamental lessons that I carry with me to this day.
May 27 · Vitor CorteI want to specifically give recognition to Coach Ben, he has gone above and beyond putting in time and effort into not just my journey but my whole families jujitsu journey as well. I have been doing jujitsu for 4 months now. I entered my first competition knowing I wasn’t going to have a coach in my corner, Coach Ben texted me good luck and asked me who my coach was and I told him I didn’t have one. He took it upon himself to surprise me by showing up 30 minutes before my fight to not just support me but be in my corner for the comp. I’m 40 years old starting something new along side my family and Coach Ben has said multiple times to not just myself but to my kids how proud he of all of us. If your wondering whether you can start jujitsu the answer is yes, drop into this gym you are treated like family on day one. All the professors and coach’s are great but I’m grateful Coach Ben is in my corner!
November 15 · Eric RogersI started training at Gracie Barra South Austin shortly after moving to the city a few years ago. I’ve trained at gyms in Houston, California, Arizona, and Brazil. GB South Austin truly embodies the mantra of “jiu jitsu for everyone.”Both kids and adults’ classes are run by great instructors who are very dedicated to improving everyone around them.I’ve met lifelong friends in this gym, and believe it’s a fantastic spot for whatever you want from BJJ whether that be fitness, discipline, and/or competition.
June 24 · Anthony CordesIf you’re looking for world-class Jiu-Jitsu with a warm, family-style atmosphere, look no further than Gracie Barra South Austin. Professor Alexandre “Dande” is a phenomenal instructor—his depth of knowledge, patience, and leadership are unmatched. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned athlete, you’ll feel welcomed and supported from day one. Training here feels like joining a second family, and the energy on the mats is inspiring. If you’re learning from Professor Dande or any of his instructors, you’re truly in the best hands.
June 19 · Erica SoaresWe wub wub wub Grace Barra South Austin! My 7 year old son and I are both members and we truly appreciate the family orientated experience that Gracie bara South Austin provides. We've already made family friends that we enjoy hanging out with outside of Jiu-Jitsu. Numerous fathers, sons, daughters, and mothers all train here together. The kids classes are amazing. They have numerous coaches (up to 5 per class) being on the mats teaching the kids. They are patient but yet firm meaning they hold the kids accountable. I literally can't say enough positive things about the Gracie bara South Austin team!
