Choosing the right martial arts school, after-school program, or summer camp is a crucial decision for families in the Copperas Cove area. When considering Family Taekwondo Center, it is important to weigh all aspects of the experience. The center offers a wide array of programs that promise to instill discipline and provide physical training for students of all ages. However, feedback from community members provides additional context to consider.
While the school's stated mission is to provide a structured environment and teach martial arts, some reviews from former participants highlight significant issues with the approach of the senior instructor, Master Lee. These accounts describe a pattern of behavior that includes the use of expulsion as a disciplinary tool and a lack of transparency regarding facility issues, such as a non-functioning restroom. A 15-year-old former student described a training incident that they felt was abusive, leading to physical discomfort and eventual expulsion from the program, which also prompted another student to leave. These deeply personal accounts from the perspective of a former student and a parent paint a picture of an environment that, for them, was not supportive or constructive.
These reviews are a powerful reminder that while a facility's services and location may be convenient, the culture and behavior of its leadership are paramount. For local Texans looking for a martial arts center, this information is vital for making an informed decision. While one family’s experience may differ from another, these testimonials suggest a need for careful consideration and potentially a trial period before committing to the program. The decision on whether to choose this particular martial arts school rests on a careful evaluation of these mixed reviews and an individual's personal comfort with the training philosophy described.

Family Taekwondo Center - Copperas Cove Reviews
Master Lee frequently uses the threat of expulsion in place of teaching and working with parents. He is not transparent about issues with the building. My son had three "accidents" going home before we left, due to not wanting to use the toilet that wasn't working. The final time Master Lee told my son he could not come any more, it was 2 days before the birthday party he offered to host. I had enough of the abuse so removed my son from the program. Then I had to contact every family my son had invited to his birthday party to make sure they knew it would be postponed and at a new location.
April 08 · KatieI'm only 15, and I was going to family taekwondo center for over a year, I was a blue belt and I was on the leadership team, and master lee turned what could be good learning experience into abuse against me, the leadership team is where we help the your kids in their classes. We were having our first meeting and we were doing round house kicks on the bags and we went straight to the practice boards and I messed up, so he told my partner to go get 10 1inch boards and had me kick them the wrong way after that he asked my foot was red and swollen, and he asked if I'm ok and I said yes cause I can stand and walk even though it hurt I'm fine so he had my partner get 10 boards and I was doing them, then one of my friends which is a black belt stood up and said thats enough, and I forgot to mention he did the same thing and master lee said oh we don't do that like really. Then my mom said something I don't remember but he was saying I wasn't being honest and saying I'm hurt when I'm not I could walk I could stand so anyway after all that he kicked me out, and he's black belt student left, so anyway I wouldn't recommend going there, I recommend iron dojo that's where I'm going, and remember I'm only 15 so imagine what he do to your kids, sorry it's so long I had to get that off my chest
August 25 · remition37I rate this business a 1 Star because of the following: This morning I received a baffled call from my daughters Taekwondo Sensei Chung Lee to follow back up on her behavior yesterday. Can you believe that after that call my daughter who is 4 years old was kicked out of Taekwondo because she cried due to not receiving a prize for participating in dance? (Not getting a prize was ok) Like wow! To give up on a 4-year-old so easily after one incident, the first incident.. who this whole time has been nothing but nice and sweet to everyone is disheartening.According to this company's website they strive to teach kids how to be disciple, increase confidence, respect and have fun. What's more heartbreaking is the same day she wanted to make a card for them so she put together an "I'm Sorry" card to give to each coach to apologize but she didn't even get a chance to do that, for she was instantly released. My Heart 💔
