Broken Plow Martial Arts Reviews
This is such a great group of people! I've been attending Plow for 2 years and I've met some great friends here! Not only are the people super welcoming and awesome, they are also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to HEMA. The instructors challenges us both physically and mentally but we also have a ton of fun. They teach the fundamentals so you're just not swinging a weapon around hurting yourself or others. Everyone here will take the time to make sure you are doing it correctly and safely. Best decision I made was joining this awesome group of people!
January 28 · Sarah BoleyStarted going here to learn more about HEMA to help a club that me and some friends recently started up back home. Now I find myself making a trip up here once a week despite living 2 hours away. The trips and the classes have been more than worth it. Knowledgeable, patient, and professional instructors that make the students feel welcomed. Clean, spacious facility with plenty of gear. I learn something new every class and feel challenged while doing so. I recomend this place to anyone in the Pittsburgh area or anyone considering traveling for HEMA lessons.
January 28 · DylI have been going here since 2017 and it has been unquestionably one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. Coming from a martial arts background, I found the classes and instructors to be extremely thoughtful and knowledgeable about the material, especially as it relates to a developing field. The community aspect of the club can not be overstated. It is an extremely welcoming and caring group of people who make you feel like family from day 1.
January 28 · Xander OrensteinThese folks are great and very welcoming! It's HEMA with a huge sense of their community and members! The folks training go around and provide individual instruction. There are at least 4 trainers in the session checking out your technique and providing valuable feedback. I couldn't be more impressed!
July 20 · Jake DogI began taking classes at Broken Plow in the spring of 2016. As someone with decades of prior experience in teaching but zero in martial arts (or athletic endeavors in general, to be honest), I can attest to the quality of this school. In the time that I’ve been training with them, I have become a competent fighter and my overall fitness has improved drastically. The curriculum for the intro classes is particularly well-crafted, and they routinely review and update all their lessons based on best practices in HEMA. Beyond the high quality of instruction, the community at Broken Plow is warm and inclusive, disciplined but irreverent, and figures prominently in both the Pittsburgh area and the international scene. If, like me, you’ve always wanted to learn how to swing a sword but didn’t know where to start – this is the place! Pictured: me @ Broken Plow -- come say hi!
