When considering a martial arts school in Winchester, Virginia, it is important to weigh the various factors to determine if it is the right fit. Boyces Martial Arts offers an extensive and varied curriculum that caters to a wide range of ages and interests, from Kids Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Krav Maga for adults. The sheer variety of their offerings is a significant advantage for those looking for a comprehensive training center. The instructors are portrayed as highly skilled and knowledgeable, creating a professional environment for learning. The academy's commitment to building strong character traits like discipline and confidence is a key selling point for parents. However, it is also important for prospective students and their families to be fully aware of the business practices and contract terms. Customer reviews highlight concerns regarding the rigidity of their contracts and customer service issues, suggesting that the school's policies might not be as flexible as some might wish. The reviews mention a long-term commitment requirement, a trial class that might not provide a full experience, and a strict cancellation policy with fees, even if the customer is not satisfied. This is a crucial point for families to investigate before signing up. The positive aspects, such as the diverse class offerings and the emphasis on life skills, are appealing, but it is essential to have a clear understanding of the financial and contractual obligations. Therefore, while Boyces Martial Arts has a lot to offer in terms of training and program variety, potential customers are advised to ask detailed questions about the contract and cancellation policy to ensure a transparent and satisfactory experience from the start. The academy’s a place to consider, but an informed decision is best made by fully understanding all aspects of the enrollment process.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1To come to a place and feel uncomfortable because the front desk lady is so rude. I'm gonna say ONE BAD APPLE won't break me. She was so rude to me and this is the type of person they have being at the front. I've never been disrespected like that by someone. I'm still gonna come with my child and I wont ask any questions until I can take her out.
June 23 · Fédeline FetièreDisappointed with the Experience and Customer ServiceWe enrolled our kids at Boyce’s Martial Arts in November 2024 after paying $19.99 for a trial class, which turned out to be more of an orientation/test in an office rather than an actual class where they could interact with other students. Afterward, the owner explained the pricing and contract options for either a 6-month or 12-month commitment. We opted for 6 months, paying over $400 for uniforms and committing to $283 per month.Unfortunately, after attending for a while, we felt that our kids were not learning enough, and they were also not enjoying the classes. When my husband called to discuss canceling, he spoke to a staff member named Tanya, who was extremely rude. She stated that the only valid reasons for cancellation were moving or medical issues. When my husband explained that we were unsatisfied with the classes, she dismissively said, “Well, they’re only white belts,” as if implying that they should just stick it out regardless of our concerns. We were then told that we still owe over $500 to fulfill the contract, even though we are not happy with the service. I find this completely unfair if a customer is not satisfied, they should have some flexibility instead of being forced to continue paying for something that isn’t working for them. There are no benefits for the customer in this contract, only obligations.I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for a flexible, customer-friendly experience. If you’re considering enrolling your kids, be aware that once you sign the contract, you’re locked in with very little room for changes, even if you’re unhappy with the program.FYI: The membership total for the 6 months contract was $1,813.50 for two kids.Btw. They also need to improve the waiting area. It's always crowded without enough place for seating and the parking it’s the same way.
March 05 · Laurimar MendozaDay 1 my wife went with our daughter all excited and the way the front desk was so rude to her. I was on the phone with her and shocked. This is the world we live in I see. I will take our business elsewhere. What a bummer.
June 23 · Jose & Fedeline GarcíaMy Daughter loves coming here, great instructors always prompt to starting class and finishing on time. I have referred a few others to join and they have said the same. I do appreciate everything BMC has done for my daughter so far. She has built confidence and skills through her training and she has made some nice friends along the way. If you want you child or yourself to have some serious fun then BMC is the place for you.
August 29 · Joseph BasileMy son has never been interested in any team/ball sports like soccer or basketball, but we wanted him to do something extracurricular and active and he loves martial arts at BMA. He’s been attending for 2.5 years now, and is in the leadership program. The instructors challenge the kids, they keep them moving the whole class, and they have fun, too. It’s a positive atmosphere.
