Aranda's Fitness & Karate Introduce
For residents of Utah, particularly in the Davis and Weber County areas, finding a gym or martial arts school that truly fits your lifestyle can be a journey. In Clearfield, one unique establishment stands out from the crowd: Aranda's Fitness & Karate. This is not your typical commercial gym or a flashy martial arts 'mcdojo.' Instead, it offers a refreshing, down-to-earth approach to fitness and self-defense, focusing on genuine growth and personal attention rather than profit. It's a place where you can get a great workout, learn practical skills, and become part of a welcoming community without the pressure of long-term contracts or hidden fees.
Aranda's Fitness & Karate is a multi-faceted facility that combines the best elements of a gym with the discipline and skill of a martial arts school. It’s an ideal spot for individuals who are looking for a practical, no-nonsense approach to physical fitness and martial arts. The environment is described by a long-time customer as "very laid back, no Master and Grandmaster ego trips," which is a rare and valuable find in the martial arts world. The owner, Mr. Aranda, is known for his dedication and expertise, remaining in great shape and embodying the principles he teaches. This gym is perfect for Utah locals who are tired of commercialized fitness centers and are searching for a more authentic and rewarding experience.
What truly sets this place apart is its dual identity. It serves as a traditional gym where you can drop in and work out, and also as a specialized school for a unique, hybrid martial arts system. This system incorporates elements from various Korean styles, along with components of kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Tae Kwon Do (TKD), and Wing Chun. This blend creates a highly effective, full-contact, and practical style of martial arts, shying away from impractical choreographed routines. The focus is on real-world application, making it an excellent choice for anyone serious about learning self-defense. For those in the Clearfield, Layton, and Ogden areas, Aranda's is a gem that offers a high-quality, personalized training experience.
Aranda's Fitness & Karate is conveniently located at 2029 N Main St, Clearfield, UT 84015, USA. While the facility is situated in the back of a dog kennel, which is noted by a reviewer, the space itself is large and well-suited for a variety of activities. Its location on a major thoroughfare makes it easily accessible for people coming from different parts of Northern Utah. For those with accessibility needs, the facility provides a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, ensuring that everyone can visit the gym comfortably. Amenities on-site include a restroom, providing the basic comforts needed for a focused workout or class. The presence of a dedicated, large space allows for personal attention in small class settings, a significant benefit that is highlighted by those who train there.
The gym's physical location and simple setup reflect its no-frills philosophy. It is not about a fancy storefront but about the quality of the training and the integrity of the instruction. For Utah residents in the Clearfield area, its accessibility and straightforward nature make it an easy choice for incorporating fitness and martial arts into a busy schedule.

Gym: Providing an open gym atmosphere where members can drop by virtually anytime to work out, offering flexibility that's hard to find in traditional gyms.
Martial Arts School: A core part of the business, teaching a unique hybrid system based on primarily Korean styles, with elements of kickboxing, BJJ, TKD, and Wing Chun. The focus is on full-contact, full-speed, and practical application.
Physical Fitness Program: All classes and the open gym access contribute to a robust physical fitness program, helping students and members get in great shape.

Reasonable Price: The cost of training is considered very reasonable, making high-quality martial arts and fitness instruction accessible to more people in the community.
Laid-Back, Ego-Free Environment: The school intentionally avoids the "mcdojo" culture. Belts are not emphasized, and the focus is on personal improvement rather than commercial gain.
Personalized Attention: Classes are small, which means instructors, especially Mr. Aranda, can give a lot of personal attention to each student. This allows for faster and more effective learning.
Donation-Based Class: The Tai Chi class on Tuesdays is a unique highlight, operating on a donation basis to support a local charity. This demonstrates the school's commitment to community service.
Practical and Full-Contact Training: The martial arts system taught is designed for real-world application, with classes conducted at full contact and full speed. This ensures students learn truly effective self-defense skills.
Strict Belt System: Belts are earned through merit and time, with a requirement of being at least 18 years old to be eligible for a first black belt. This system emphasizes earned skill over quick promotions.
These highlights collectively create an environment that is both effective and trustworthy, a key factor for anyone in Utah looking for quality instruction.

January 20 · Tyrone ArandaGreat School. I just moved to the area and was looking for a MA school. The price here is very reasonable, no contracts. It is very laid back, no Master and Grandmaster ego trips. Mr. Aranda is in his 60's and still in great shape, not an out of shape 10th dan like some "grandmasters." They teach a hybrid system based on primarily Korean styles, but they are taught at full contact, and full speed. it is a lot like kickboxing, some BJJ and a hint of TKD and wing chun. No unpractical choreographed, self defense situation. There is a belt system, but belts are not emphasized, and you do not have to pay to test. I have black belts in 3 styles, yet had to start as a white belt like everyone else. You get a belt every 3 to 12 months on average. Not a mcdojo in any way. the school is in the back of a dog kennel, but it is large. Classes are small, so you get a lot of personal attention from the instructor, and it is not a commercial school trying to make profit, by selling you uniforms, nonsense dance moves, and black belts you don't deserve like so many of the other schools around the area. You must be 18 to be even be eligible to get you first black belt, so there are no 12 year old 2nd degrees walking around with ego. Good work outs too, tai chi in the mornings, and you can drop by virtually anytime to work out.
September 03 · Krystofer Milenkovas far as the 24-hour fitness center - we have tried and tried to have this removed but to no avail. just for the record, we ARE NOT a 24-hour fitness center. And yes, we are a Karate center offering various styles, regardless of how it is advertised on google
November 08 · Tyrone ArandaExtremely knowledgeable instructors...they are the best around, nothings ever gonna keep them down.
January 22 · James WThis schools teachings and training saved me growing up. I still repeat the teachings and principals of the school before bed. Thank you for all you have done for me.
