★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Hit this one on my travels through. I was pointed to the locker room, but that was it. 2 YMCA employees didn’t even know how to point me to the weights. The water fountain, in the one room I could find to workout in, ran out of water filling my water bottle. The dude at the front with shoulder length hair was getting bombarded with questions and things and he was really nice to me and handled the pressure well. Not the best first experience, but I got my workout in. - I haven't been to a more dilapidated Y. The facilities have needed a renovation for a few decades atleast. The fitness center lacks sufficient strength training equipment. The sauna and steam room are behind a pay wallThe monthly membership fees are not valid for the severe infrastructure repairs this facility needs. The Portage and Kalamazoo Ys are the least equipped and most in need of renovating among the Ys I have seen in the Midwest. August 02 · Shravan Patil
- Used to be a great gym, management suddenly turned sour and started harassing my friend evertime he came to the gym about not having a membership despite having a key card and paying monthly. Each time they made him fill 15 minutes worth of documents out, wasting our time, only to harass him again. He is now suspended because they can't do their jobs right, Despite proof of him paying. Be warned they'll probably harass you too. April 14 · Alec Robinson
- We love Y swim classes. However, there are huge problems with communication within the organization. Again and again, children and families are deprioritized when there are closures or problems. May 04 · Nora Hauk
- The wet and dry sauna is an additional $20/ monthThe classes are spectacular. The facility is clean, cool and tidy. The machines are up to date and work wellThe pool is big. There is a really nice court system and upstairs is the courts. The kids area is in the front and segregated from the rest of the building, security is high for it so I feel comfortable having the tiny humans in it.
