★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Master Weatherly is the best. We tried several places in Fenton and Grand Blanc for Tae Kwon Do for my toddler but this is the only place we noticed he liked and that he actually gain confidence, concentration and fun!Been coming here for the little dragons class for a while.
March 03 · MaryB MJOur two kids have studied Taekwondo for the past year and a half under Master Weatherly. He has a way of teaching that is engaging and encouraging. Even though our daughter is now in school sports, she always wants to find a way to ensure she can go at least one day a week during sports seasons. We haven’t missed since they first started. They both have gained confidence and amazing self defense skills. They want to continue on to get their black belts. I highly recommend World Martial Arts Academy!
August 06 · KoloPhoto718I have been studying under Master Weatherly at World of Martial Arts for almost 6 years now. I also help with the Juniors and Little Dragons classes. I take Taekwondo, Judo, and Hapkido. Master Weatherly is a great instructor and very engaging with any age from 3-4 year olds to teenagers to adults. If you want to learn a martial art, I would highly recommend Master Weatherly, not only for the Art itself but he teaches the history of it as well, where it came from, and why things are done a certain way. Also, the school is more like a family environment, where we help each other learn and everyone gets better together. I will continue with my Martial Arts journey with this school as long as I can. Thank you Master Weatherly!
August 06 · Michelle RainboltExtremely disappointing experience. My son is 3 and was signed up for little dragons. The first couple of classes I thought maybe I was being overly sensitive, but the third class I almost walked out in the middle. The way the instructors spoke to the children was extremely cold and dismissive. If the child (not just mine) didn't understand or missed the cue to do something a snarky comment would be made and the child would no longer get the opportunity to try. There were 2 instructors and yet the second instructor just stood in the back and would tap a child on the shoulder to redirect if they were dancing around a little bit or would passively give the instruction one more time rather than making any attempt to look the child in the eye, get on their level, or help explain further. For example, one little boy was called up to do the skill, the boy looked at the instructor clearly not understanding what was being asked. The instructor asked one more time to come up, kid still didn't understand cuz he didn't attempt to say it or do anything any differently. Instructor said," alright forget you then" called the next student. They also seemed to seperate the kids into a front and back row with the front row being specifically picked because they were easy( they looked older 6ish and could easily take instruction) which ok u don't want distractions in the front but then when he was teaching he only ever interacted with the front row or made eye contact when speaking with them. The back row was left to figure out themselves and we're begrudgingly brought up to try a skill every once in a while, but no positive reinforcement was given and if a child didn't immediately do the skill they were sent back with no attempt to redomonstrate the skill despite the fact that these kids in the back clearly had no idea what was being asked of them. 3 and 4 year olds have short attention spans to begin with, combine that with them feeling like they aren't being spoken to and not being given any interaction, of course they aren't going to listen and get wigglyer. I attempted to address my concerns on two seperate occasions after class with the instructors and was stiffly told that everyone recieved the same amount of attention and ZERO attempt to resolve was made not even an offer to get my money back for the remaining classes after I said we would no longer be returning. My immediate impression was they were glad he wouldn't be back. DON'T WORK WITH YOUNG KIDS IF YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO TOLERANCE FOR THEM!
August 06 · Crystal KruppMaster Weatherly left a life long impression on me years ago through my elementary school Carman park elementary in flint , he use to offer classes, I loved it until my first sparring event, the kid came running at me like a wild monkey I stepped back and kicked him in the face and I was disqualified I never went back ever again,it shut me right down but when I do think about it I would like to get back into it , it did teach me a lot of discipline and it was really good for me especially at the time in my life as a child , I did not have the best examples in my life
