★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1KarateWow! What an experience! I am so very proud of my four-year-old son. I would never question your experience in teaching karate over the years. I definitely knew that my son might not be ready according to your requirements, despite his age being allowed by your program. What did confuse me was your method of determining my child ability to not only follow direction, but to determine his ability to either fight or flee rather during a 2 minute evaluation.I get where you were going. While teaching a child that fleeing is a better response to fear than fighting, pretending you are a tricky adult who might have another agenda in store isn’t the best approach to determining their ability or how a child will react. Especially a child who is well-versed on what a tricky adult might look like or do in various situations. I am so incredibly proud of my son for saying “no, that doesn’t feel good when you chase me like that”while pretending to be a tricky adult. I am so proud of my son for repeating the words no that is not a game. I don’t want to play. Might I suggest that you use simpler terms with each child. Such as another child who’s trying to take his toys, maybe even a creepy zombie coming after him, I don’t know… when you hear a child say, “no! I don’t like that”, consider another method. When you propose that you are an adult ulterior motives and you use that against Their ability to participate, you nor the child will ever win. My child was 1000% capable of following and was excited to follow simple directions, despite his age. It wasn’t until you claimed you were a bad adult who wanted to get him to do something that wasn’t good and wanted to chase him across the room that my child didn’t want to play anymore. It was in that moment that you decided to say aloud that by child obviously couldn’t listen. Let me tell you something… My child can listen for being 4. However, my child will not listen to any adults who set themselves up to be a threat. This is not a game of Fight or flee. This was weird. And honestly, this is just the behavior that I want my child to stay far away from. Saying something along the lines of “well I guess you just can’t listen so you can’t do this karate class” indicates there may be something wrong with YOU and the method of your teaching. Also, if I might be so bold, this sounds a lot like what adults do when trying to groom a child. We will never be back.
April 04 · victoria sWe love having our daughters in karate here! They graduated to black belt fall of 2021. Master Kruckow is amazing with the kids! It's so awesome that my kids convinced me to sign up.
June 15 · Cindy BaronIn a world with many problems, Master Kerry is one of the solutions. As a parent, what I see when I watch his classes, is the the kids pay attention to his lessons - discipline, respect, caring for yourself, and caring for others. It is not about fighting...but if you must fight, you may defend yourself.
October 06 · Kevin Brodermr kruckow has a way with children that makes our daughter, who is 6 years old and has the attention span to prove it, WANT to go as often as possible. he makes it fun for her, and for every other child who goes there, to learn discipline and respect along with a few moves that may come in handy for self defense some day. if you're considering sending your kid(s) to a school, stop by and watch a class led by mr kruckow. it'll be time well spent.
March 10 · PhotophisticateDavid is a skilled martial artist and great instructor. I know him personally so I can say with authority that you cannot go wrong learning from him.
