★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1As someone who has always wanted to learn self-defense but was always too intimidated to try, Ukiyo Academy has been an answered prayer! Mickey and Raf are amazing teachers; walking into the studio, you immediately feel welcome. They’ve put a lot of work into creating a positive, safe, and encouraging environment; just a month into classes, I’ve already made new friends. August 12 · Abigail ChunI recently had the opportunity to do a pop-up with Ukiyo Academy during one of their self-defense events, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.As a small business owner, finding the right events to showcase your work can be tough—but Ukiyo made the entire experience smooth, welcoming, and genuinely supportive. From the moment I connected with their team, they were organized, communicative, and really cared about creating a meaningful event—not just for attendees, but for vendors too.The event had such a great energy. The crowd was engaged and interested, and it was clear that everyone was there to learn, grow, and connect. My pop-up got a lot of traffic and interaction, and I had some amazing conversations with people who I might not have met otherwise. What really stood out to me was how much Ukiyo values community, wellness, and personal empowerment. You can tell they put a lot of heart into what they do. Whether you're into martial arts, wellness, or just looking to connect with like-minded people, Ukiyo creates a space that feels intentional and uplifting. If you're a small business looking for opportunities to collaborate on events, pop-ups, or community-based wellness programming, I highly recommend working with Ukiyo Academy. June 22 · Charmaine LUkiyo Academy is a hidden gym! I am so glad that I came across this wonderful studio and was able to be introduced to its stellar owners during a women's self defense workshop in mid March 2025. Mickey gave me such a warm and welcoming greeting the moment that I walked in and her kind and patient spirit is what continually infuses the space. Both Mickey and Raf then co-taught a super informative workshop on women's self-defense. I felt so inspired that I signed up for a new student membership the very same day. Since then, I have taken about a handful of women's self-defense classes and can confidently state that I feel a sense of mastery over the basics and even some more intermediate maneuvers. For someone who shied away from martial arts due to its generally male-dominated nature, I am really glad that Ukiyo Academy was the space that opened up new possibilities for me. I can't wait to continue to explore the world of jiu jitsu in the future!
