★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Sensei, Melissa, and the rest of the team do an absolutely AMAZING job of nurturing kids of all ages and abilities. I can't thank them enough for the beautiful community they've created at Tenzan Aikido. Do you and your family a favor and join this great group of kids and mentors.
January 06 · Geoff NelsonTenzan is a warm, welcoming place full of friendly staff and students both. The atmosphere of learning is impressive with excellent guidance from Sensei, the other teachers, and the more experienced students. When I started practicing here I instantly felt I was part of their community. When I missed a few weeks Melissa called to check in on me, a touch I really appreciated. I'm not currently practicing there due to my schedule, but I would love to go back and continue my studies when my schedule allows.
October 25 · Murray SampsonI’ve been at Tenzan 6 years? Joined with my son because I knew a couple of folks in the dojo, had never taken a martial art before. The people here are now my second family. All the support you want from really nice people. Didn’t know this 6 years ago but Sensei Bookman brings a depth and breadth that is unique. Lots of class times to choose from.
February 27 · Ian BrownAs a new member at Tenzan Aikido with experience in both combat sports and martial arts, I can recommend this dojo as superb for both beginners and advanced martial arts practitioners. Upon joining you learn that Tenzan is foremost a warm and diverse community in which you immediately feel at home. Tenzan is outstanding for students at every level to learn from one of the most experienced and well rounded martial arts instructors in the U.S., Bruce Bookman, as well as his extensive bench of senior student instructors. Beginner students at any age and level of ability will immediately feel welcomed, encouraged and supported. Serious students of self defense and martial arts may be surprised that Tenzan offers both Aikido and Brazilian Ju Jitsu, with additional classes on real world applications of Aikido. Sensei Bookman dispels any notion of Aikido being passive or less practical than other martial arts and exemplifies the subtlety and power inherent in the “Way of Harmony”, as Aikido translates. It becomes clear quickly why students of Aikido consider it a way of life, rather than just a practice. This is especially true at Tenzan and I feel incredibly lucky to be welcomed into this community.
February 05 · Kavan PetersonI've had the pleasure of attending Bookman Sensei's Zoom classes with his Dojo during the pandemic. From the first class I attended, I was not disappointed. Bookman Sensei and members of his Dojo have been wonderful and Bookman Sensei's teaching is unmatched. He a very intelligent person with vast knowledge of Aikido and Martial arts. He trained with students of the founder of Aikido, and it shows in his technique and teaching. Everyone at Tenzan Aikido has made me feel welcome and that I have been part of their Dojo even before the quarantine. Aikido is not just a martial art, but a moving meditation and is a helpful tool in working through modern life. In choosing this path of training with Bookman Sensei a pioneer of modern Aikido, and the rest of the members of Tenzan Aikido you will not be disappointed. I look forward to the day I am able to travel to Seattle and train with them all in person.
