Seattle Integrated Martial Arts (SIMA): More Than a Gym, It's a Community
For anyone in the Washington region looking to transform their fitness journey into a path of self-mastery and personal growth, Seattle Integrated Martial Arts (SIMA) is a destination worth exploring. Located in Seattle, this is not a typical gym; it's a multi-disciplined mixed martial arts school founded on the philosophy of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do. The core belief here is that cross-training in various martial arts disciplines creates a more adaptable and well-rounded martial artist. This unique approach allows students to learn a variety of skills, from the intricate ground game of Jiu-Jitsu to the powerful strikes of Muay Thai, all in one welcoming and supportive environment.
The true heart of SIMA lies in its community. Students consistently rave about the welcoming and encouraging atmosphere, where everyone—from the young to the old, the agile to the less agile—is made to feel at home. Owner and head instructor Bob Heinemann is a "true student" of martial arts, and he has successfully built a safe space where individuals are challenged to learn and grow. The reviews from both beginners and seasoned martial artists highlight a common theme: this is a friendly place where people work together to continuously improve. The instructors are passionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to helping each individual succeed, making it an ideal environment for anyone who has ever said, "I could never do that."

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I have trained martial arts for more than two decades and am fortunate to have found great communities of people that are welcoming, encouraging, and supportive. Seattle Integrated Martial Arts is no exception. SIMA is welcoming. Of everyone. Young, old. Agile, less agile. Formerly agile and trying to come to terms (hand raise on that one). Bob is a true student, in every sense. He has built a safe place for those willing to put in the work to learn and grow. If you ever said, “i could never do that”, (especially you ladies). I challenge you to give it a try. You won’t be sorry.
October 07 · Kimberly ChilcuttI love training at SIMA!It’s a fantastic community working together to continuously improve and learn. The Kali/IMA program is great for fitness, self defense, and introduction to a wide variety of martial arts. The BJJ program is where I’ve spent most of my time, and it’s a great way to get in some rolls, go down deep rabbit holes, or just learn about the basics of ground game.Seriously, come in and give it a try, really friendly place.
October 07 · Moe SialI looked at all the schools in this part of Seattle and SIMA stood out as an excellent school. The owner is knowledgeable, caring, and extremely capable. I primarily train the striking classes and it is a good group. The BJJ crew is also very close knit and welcoming.
October 09 · Adam Mills-CampisiI originally enrolled at Seattle Integrated Martial Arts because I was having problems at home and I needed a way to let out stress and get in better shape. What I found here was so much more. Originally I was shy and intimidated training with these guys who could completely crush me if they wanted, but one of the philosophies at SIMA is that anyone should feel comfortable training with anyone else. Over the past 3 years SIMA has become an important part of my life with many of my training partners becoming very close friends. I'm more confident now and in better shape than I have been in in the past 18 years. It's a wonderful community so drop on it, give it a chance and see how it can change your life. Update edit: Google says I should update my review. I teach Brazilian jiu jitsu here now 😂 guess that should say how I feel about the place
June 21 · Karl BarmutaOur kid is thriving at SIMA! We've seen improvements in focus, discipline, and strength--all with benefits in the classroom and other sports as well. The small class size and laid back atmosphere are a good fit for our family. Highly recommend!
