March 19 · Michelle R. AlemanThe instructors and staff have been fantastic. I feel that the character building skills taught are just as important as the physical skills of the martial arts class itself. Lots of smiles and a good atmosphere for the kids to learn and grow in...
August 11 · Dave HoffmanI do not recognize my teen anymore! His confidence is way up just in the first week! He's not the same kid, he's so much better and higher self esteem!
May 05 · Sara KochBeware of the deceptive pricing! I want to start off by giving the stars to the kid instructors. They will be the ones teaching the classes and they are super sweet. You hardly ever get taught by adult instructors, and I’ve only seen Master Macy (the owner) one time. We were not well informed about the program when we started. We had to ask what all the stripes and homework meant. After a while, they referenced a binder that the other location ended up giving to us that had all that information. So, right away, not very informative. As for the pricing, I paid $4,568.88 for 5 people for the full year to get to purple belt. They said any person after the third person is no extra cost. When I signed up, I remember them telling me that the cost wouldn’t be that much different if we decided to go to black belt. Unfortunately, that was not true. I’ve posted pictures of the post-it notes of what I was quoted. My price would be $540 every two weeks which would equal $70,200 for the 5 years it would take to get to black belt. I could get a 5% discount if I paid yearly which would be over $13,000. And, if I wanted to pay all of it upfront, I could cut them a check for over $52,000. They said the price wouldn’t be that much different, yet it was nearly tripled from when we started. I’d call that quite the increase. Also, you would think that if they are going to charge me 70K they would have an actual program cost sheet. A post-it note is unprofessional and they could just write whatever they wanted. In fact, I spoke with one of the parents also taking the exact same class as us (she has 3 in her family, so should be the same as us since after 3 there is no additional cost) and she said that they pay $616 per month. I brought this to the attention of Ms. Schnur who said that they locked in a lower price, and that if we would’ve committed to black belt sooner, then there is a more substantial discount. However, no one sat us down to explain that. But, at the same time, at the end of every class, we recite the black belt creed that has these character pillars such as courtesy and integrity. I don’t feel that the integrity piece is there if they make you commit to something early on in order to save big. The pricing should be the same whether I commit after day 1 or when I get to purple belt. But clearly, the pricing isn’t the same for everyone when I was being asked to pay nearly double what another person in my exact class was paying. I could not be in that same class knowing she was paying way less. There would be no way to justify it. In the end, the curriculum was good, but they are not upfront with some things. And, if they are truly charging that price to everyone, they’d be pricing out so many families who cant afford that.Update on 3/16/25. I’m not sure why the response from Master Macy was removed. My only guess would be that they acknowledged in the response that they have unfair pricing and use post it notes for pricing information (versus having a professional pricing sheet) which might not be good for business. I did take a screenshot of his response and added it in here. I want future and current customers to be aware of what they are getting into. I hope this helps because if they are going to admit their mistakes and how they will improve them, and then, remove the response, that doesn’t show the integrity that they claim to have.
March 16 · Ashley GrierOur son has been doing karate at Ripple Effect for a little over 3 years. It has been a great experience for him and for our whole family! The instructors are great and really care about the kids.
