Oriental Martial Arts College of Indiana - North Introduce
In the vast landscape of martial arts schools across Indiana, the Oriental Martial Arts College (OMAC) stands as an undisputed leader with a rich legacy that dates back over 50 years. This institution, led by the legendary Grandmaster Choi, is far more than a typical gym; it is a gateway to a transformative experience. For residents of Indianapolis and the surrounding areas, OMAC offers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a tapestry of traditional Korean martial arts, including Taekwondo, Kung Fu, and Hapkido. The school’s philosophy is built on the principle that martial arts training is a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. It is a place where every student, regardless of age, background, or physical condition, can unlock a better version of themselves. The academy's influence extends far beyond its physical location, with a vast network of schools, masters, and students across the Midwest and beyond, a testament to its enduring impact and unwavering commitment to excellence.
The true heart of OMAC’s success lies in its dedication to a holistic approach to martial arts. As one customer review states, Grandmaster Choi is excellent with his students and genuinely wants them to be "the best inside as well as out." This focus on inner growth is what sets OMAC apart. The school's curriculum is not solely about learning physical techniques; it’s about instilling values that shape students into well-rounded, responsible, and better individuals. The mental and physical benefits are immense, with students experiencing significant improvements in their discipline, confidence, and overall well-being. This is a place where ancient wisdom and modern instruction converge to provide an unparalleled learning experience. Grandmaster Choi’s ability to blend tough instruction with a fun and engaging atmosphere ensures that students, whether kids, adults, or families, are constantly motivated and eager to learn.
OMAC’s legacy is built on a tradition of producing not just champions in the ring but champions in life. With Supreme Grandmaster Joon Pyo Choi coaching the first U.S. Olympic Taekwondo team in 1988, and the academy producing numerous national, world, and even an Olympic bronze medalist, the quality of instruction is irrefutable. Yet, the school’s most significant achievement, as they see it, is the production of "many people who strive to achieve the best of who we can be as human beings in all life circumstances." This emphasis on the martial arts philosophy of "Moojung," or building inner strength to tackle life's obstacles, is a key reason why OMAC is so highly regarded. It empowers students to make principled choices and foster values like respect, compassion, patience, and self-discipline, making them valuable members of their family, society, and the world.

October 31 · RThe feeling you get from this place is one of love and dedication. I really appreciate what Grand Master Choi and the other instructors do as far as being patient and taking one on one time with each student. They make sure each student fully understand each technique while nurturing the love for and teaching the core values of martial arts and life.
December 13 · JasonAfter several weeks of taking Taekwondo lessons, I'm convinced that this school is right for my son (4) and me (30). Grand Master Choi and his assistant black belts are great at teaching self-defense and making sure you apply the principles you learn in Taekwondo to both class and everyday life. OMAC offers Kung Fu lessons as well as Taekwondo. I highly recommend this school.
