OMNE Martial Arts, Fitness & Wellness Introduce
OMNE Martial Arts, Fitness & Wellness is more than just a gym or a typical martial arts studio; it's a dynamic community space, a true "playground" for people of all ages and backgrounds on the Upper West Side of New York City. This unique establishment offers a holistic approach to physical and mental well-being, blending the discipline of martial arts with the benefits of general fitness and a strong focus on community. It stands out in the NYC fitness landscape as a Black-owned business that is dedicated to being an inclusive and welcoming "transgender safespace" and is "LGBTQ+ friendly." This commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone is a core part of its identity and a significant reason why many New Yorkers are choosing to make this their go-to spot for self-improvement.
The philosophy at OMNE is to provide a positive and family-friendly atmosphere where individuals can grow and learn together. The range of programs, from kids' classes to adult training, makes it an ideal spot for the entire family to engage in a shared, healthy activity. As one glowing review highlights, OMNE is an "amazing, family-friendly Martial Arts studio." The studio prides itself on fostering a "warm, positive environment" where children can learn mixed martial arts while also having discipline and respect reinforced. This dual focus on physical skill and personal values is what makes OMNE so appealing to local parents who want to see their children develop into well-rounded individuals.
While the positive experiences are many, it's also important for potential members to understand the full picture. A detailed review from a former fighter points out that the gym's focus has shifted away from competitive training and more towards recreational fitness and children's programs. While this might be a point of consideration for those with professional fighting aspirations, it serves as a strong testament to the gym's success and focus on its primary community: families and individuals looking for a place to get fit, learn valuable skills, and be part of a supportive group. This evolution signifies its strong position as a neighborhood "playground" for all levels, particularly for beginners and those focused on personal wellness rather than professional competition. The management and billing issues mentioned in one review highlight the importance of clear communication and following up on administrative matters, a good practice for any new member to keep in mind.
OMNE Martial Arts, Fitness & Wellness is located at 200 W End Ave, New York, NY 10023, USA. Its address places it in the heart of the Upper West Side, a bustling and convenient location for a significant portion of the city's population. The studio is situated next to Bin 70 Wines, making it easy to spot and a landmark for local residents. The neighborhood is well-served by public transportation, including several subway lines and buses, making it highly accessible for people coming from all over Manhattan and the other boroughs.
For those who prefer to drive, there is paid street parking available in the vicinity, which is a common feature of this part of New York City. The building itself is committed to accessibility, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance, restroom, and seating. This is a crucial feature that ensures that a wider range of the community can participate in the studio's offerings without barriers. In addition, the studio has gender-neutral restrooms, reinforcing its commitment to being a safe and welcoming space for all. This thoughtful approach to accessibility and amenities makes OMNE not just a great place to train but also a truly inclusive establishment.

What is Worth Choosing?
For a New Yorker, choosing a place to invest their time and money in fitness is a significant decision. What makes OMNE Martial Arts, Fitness & Wellness a compelling choice is its foundational commitment to being a truly inclusive and safe "playground" for everyone. Unlike many traditional gyms, OMNE's identity as a Black-owned, LGBTQ+ friendly, and transgender safespace sets it apart. This intentional effort to create a welcoming atmosphere ensures that people from all walks of life feel comfortable and empowered to pursue their fitness goals. The studio's clear focus on being a "family-friendly" martial arts hub, as highlighted by a parent's review, means it's an excellent choice for parents looking for a positive and disciplined activity for their children. The ability to learn, grow, and reinforce core values like respect in a warm environment is a major draw for families on the Upper West Side.
The wide array of services offered is another key reason to choose OMNE. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to try a martial art for the first time or an experienced individual seeking to expand your skills, the variety of classes—from Karate and Muay Thai to Jiu-Jitsu and yoga—provides something for everyone. This multi-disciplinary approach means you don't have to go to multiple locations to find the right blend of training. The availability of online classes also speaks to the studio's understanding of the modern New Yorker's busy schedule, providing a flexible option for maintaining a workout routine.
While it may not be the ideal place for a serious professional fighter based on one review's experience, this very point underscores its true value for the majority of the population. The studio has successfully carved a niche as a recreational and wellness-focused center, which is precisely what most people are seeking. The focus on fitness, self-improvement, and building a supportive community makes it a much more accessible and sustainable option than a hardcore fight gym. The accessibility of the location, the inclusive amenities, and the family-oriented discounts make it an easy and practical choice. In essence, OMNE is a place where you can get fit, learn valuable skills, and become part of a community that celebrates diversity and personal growth, making it a worthy "playground" for any New Yorker.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1OMNE is an amazing, family-friendly Martial Arts studio Our children both love training there - they foster a warm, positive environment for to learn mixed martial arts while also reinforcing discipline and respect. Absolutely recommend.
July 09 · InnominateMy experience here started wonderful! As a former wrestler and practitioner of BJJ, I started Muay Thai/Kickboxing training a little over a year prior to coming to this location after moving to Harlem. It seemed as if this was a "family" environment, and it would be akin to where I was training prior. Boy was I wrong. After being told they would be able to get me into a fight, which I believed they would go the correct route, (I have participated in GAMMA sanctioned events, so I understood the parameters required, MMA ID being one of them.) I was never instructed to get one, I was led astray telling me they had a fight team, they do not.I understand they were in the midst of a move, I think I trained with them ONCE, within a two-month span. Had my fight, cornered by my previous gym, all without a word from OMNE owner or his coaches. Mind you, while this is going on, they are still charging my card automatically for 225 dollars every month. When I joined there were no conversations about a contract and terminating auto billing. So, after a summer of frustration and lack of commitment and coaching from a gym I had been paying 225 dollars a month religiously, first classes back at their new location showed me that this was no longer a fight gym, but rather a martial arts gym for recreational fitness and kids martial arts. That is fine, however, that is what led to my request to terminate automatic billing, which the request was granted. That was 8/2024.They proceeded to bill me 9/24 and 10/24. I then had to follow up NUMEROUS times with the owner and the staff, to which there was always an excuse that their system was down etc. I work in CRE, and I am used to excuses so this was just another list of them. Nonetheless it got to the point where the owner had to Zelle me the 450 dollars I was owed, and I stopped attending class here early 8/2024, I think I went to 3-4 classes after they reopened, and they are still charging me automatically into October after my request was granted in email. I received that Zelle early 11/2024. At this point I asked for proof that they have removed my CC from their billing and to cease any contact with this gym. To find out that I was billed again, automatically for 11/2024.Proof was never sent that my card has been removed, and I still have not received that 225 that was automatically billed. I provided proof, statements and conversational threads. They do not care, and this establishment is very, very unprofessional.I didn't even get to the part where I asked one of the coaches to hit pads with me 5-10 minutes before class and he told me he doesn't do free lessons.I hope anyone who goes here enjoys it for their kids, if you are a fighter and looking to get serious work, THIS GYM IS NOT FOR YOU.Wish them the best, that is just NOT how business should be conducted. Very shameful.
March 14 · Kevin MurrayBoth my kids have been going to valor for many years since before it even officially opened. Mr. Phipps is an incredible teacher mentor and role model. In addition to regular classes our kids have participated in all the extra programs such as birthday parties camps and parents night out. We are so happy to have valor in our community.
February 18 · Kurt BermondWe had a birthday party at the UWS location and Mr Phipps and his team exceeded my expectations. The kids had the very best time—the party was high energy and expertly run. We opted for the Silver Package, and the decorations, cake, and goodie bags were awesome. Highly recommend!
January 19 · Kristin TarsiMy daughter’s birthday party was absolutely the most fun and exciting! Many parents texted me afterwards saying their kid had the most fun ever with all the different physical challenges and games led expertly by Mr.Phipps and his team. We got the Silver Package and every detail including custom designed cake, thematic balloon decor, party favors, music, etc were all taken care of for you - a parent’s dream! They welcomed the kids with bouncy castles and music which was a great way to get the children pumped up! The dodgeball game, blazepod challenge, sparring, and exercise challenges were all so fun to watch. I’ve never seen 25 girls have so much fun trying their best and cheering their teammates. It was really special to witness their laughter, energy, and enthusiasm among the kids and parents alike. I whole heartedly recommend Omne!!!
