★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This has been the best place for my son and his learning development. He has struggled with bullying in the past and within three months of being in this class his confidence has reached new heights. I love that he has made new friends and get to earn belts with hard work, dedication, and practice. We are very grateful for this team and sensai. I would 100% recommend everyone to national martial arts academy. He is already at a green belt and want to learn how to use weapons next.
May 21 · Tameika SmithMy 10 year old son has been with NMAA for a couple months now, As a parent, I believe enrolling him in the academy was one of the best decisions I have made for him.In the brief amount of time we’ve been enrolled we have seen improvement in his grades and completion of assignments. He is growing confidence to be more assertive and ask for help when it’s needed.During his classes, important social topics are often discussed such as bullying, responsibility and self defense.Valuable life lessons are being taught along with learning the martial arts.Socially, he’s becoming more confident to do things that are new and outside of his comfort zone.We have seen improvements in other sports and activities he participates in.He also looks forward to the routine and the structure as well as the physical activity that he experiences in class. It makes it all the more rewarding to witness the interactions NMAA staff has with him and other students. They have a great team of Instructors and other peer leaders who make this the best school to learn and grow in martial arts.
May 22 · Nicolle WyattIf your kids or you want to learn martial arts, I suggest here. I went here in elementary (being forced to quit since I moved) and I loved every second. They have fun activities, great teachers, and a very constructive environment. I personally loved my experience with the place and I still remember most of the moves (though my form has decreased severely.) I seriously miss the place even though it's only been 3ish years.
April 13 · Eralynn HarrisI had a deeply disappointing experience at the National Martial Arts Academy. One of the only instructors remaining on the team, Shifu S, consistently talked down about his own students in public, which was not only unprofessional but also discouraging to witness. Instead of fostering a respectful and supportive environment, he often seemed more focused on his own ego and reminiscing the past rather than helping students grow. While he talks a big game, his actions don’t match his words. There’s a lot of talk and it takes about a half a year for anything to happen and it change. I cannot recommend this place to anyone serious about martial arts or self-improvement.In addition to the poor leadership, the class structure leaves much to be desired. Some sessions like the kickboxing and demo class only run for about 40 to 45 minutes. For the price being charged, this simply doesn’t feel like enough time to get a full proper training. It often feels rushed and disorganized, with little individual attention from Shifu S. Between the lack of professionalism from the instructor and the abbreviated classes, I left feeling like I had wasted both time and money.- Mr. B
May 14 · Mr. BreadHighly highly recommend this Martial Arts Academy. My daughter has been attending for about a month now, I was skeptical at first, as she has ADHD, but quickly realized that this place IS the place for ADHD. This is a fun, but structured environment. Most importantly to my family, this is a SAFE environment. All of the instructors here, are amazing, supportive, & just on top of their game.I’m looking forward to seeing the growth my daughter makes as a young girl from this program & academy.Again, highly recommend.
