July 08 · John DunkelbergMy two sons have been going to Metro West Tang Soo Do for the last 3 years. The instructors are incredible and very knowledgeable. My sons have learned so much besides karate including respect, leadership skills, good sportsmanship and gained new friends in the process.I couldn't be any more happy with the training they are receiving and I highly recommend Metro West Tang Soo Do.
May 28 · Paul ParentI received my black belt many years ago and decided I needed to try to return to my original style of Tang Soo Do. I have found this studio and its complement of masters level instructors to be not only welcoming but also patient as I try to remember what I learned years ago. Master Boudrot has superior skills and the patience of a saint. Masters Foley and Nugent bring years of experience to the teaching styles. Master Fernette adds humour to his considerable skill set. Instructor Mr Von Kelsch is consistently supportive and strives to enable his students to do their best. All in all, you could not ask for a better team of instructors. I'm indeed fortunate to have been accepted as a student at this school.
June 07 · Daniel CardinaleI've practiced a number of different martial arts styles over almost 20 years, including several martial forms of Tai Chi Chuan and several styles of Kung Fu. I have been fortunate in that all of my instructors over those years have been excellent teachers, patient, kind, highly skilled martial artists, wonderful people, and very passionate, and I am very grateful for all that they have taught me.I have spent the vast majority of my martial arts journey at Metro West Tang Soo Do. What sets them apart is that the system that they teach is BOTH a traditional martial arts style (vs sport), AND is tailored to teach you self defense very quickly (including defense against multiple attackers). One of the gifts that I am giving my two children is a foundation in traditional martial arts. There are so many little things -- like how to listen to people -- that martial arts teaches that makes the rest of life so much simpler. The system taught at Metro West has elements built into it at every belt and every class that teach self defense: distancing, timing, joint locks, knife defense, etc. I've spoken to various martial artists that started in Tang Soo Do and have gone on to practice other styles -- I even spoke with one before I first started here -- and all of them spoke with reverence about Tang Soo Do, and how what they learned was unique and how it prepared them better than any other style would have. The five Master level instructors that teach regularly at Metro West really break things down to the basics and can give you very minute feedback that makes the techniques easier, faster, and more powerful. Things like maintaining contact with the hand as you transition from a block to a wrist lock, or minor postural issues that make you off balance so that you cannot strike with power. Both of my children and I love it here. I wish you well on your journey, and I urge you to take the first step and walk into a martial arts school and take a class like I did so many years ago. My life has been better for it, and I know yours will be too!
