★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I don’t think I have seen any better. and to be honest I dont know if I would be able to get a black belt without Mr.so there by my side. I don’t know if I would like taekwondo if Mr.so were not there. I don’t know if I would be excited to go to taekwondo with out Mr.so being there. You spend all your day doing other stuff and show up to taekwondo and teach us. You make sure the place is all clean and we don’t step on spit. I don’t know if I could stop with this I could go on for years but I don’t want you to have to listen to be speak all day.

January 23 · Sarah ReardonI was the judge for the 2nd degree black belt test at KLS Taekwondo in December, 2012 and here are 2 essays from the students.Taekwondo is not just a sport to me, it never was. It was something that changed my life in more ways than one. I started Taekwondo about five or six years ago and it has helped me grow an immense amount since then. Taekwondo has taught me lessons throughout all the years and has made me the better person I am today. I have had the chance to meet, engage, and work with so many different people who, in turn, have also taught me many things, including two wonderful and patient instructors. Taekwondo isn’t just a place where we go for an hour to learn different forms, kicks, and combinations. No, it is a place where every time I leave, it is with a new piece of information, a new lesson learned.Ever since I tested to get my first degree Taekwondo has been going great. In the past two years, Taekwondo has offered me a healthy and safe environment where I can be challenged and learn. Since I have tested for my first degree I have learned several important lessons, but there is one certain one that is reiterated every day. It is to try my best no matter what and even if I get discouraged, keep going because the only thing stopping me from achieving something difficult is myself. Over the past two years I really feel as though Taekwondo has helped me with my confidence and it has helped me achieve and succeed at things that I didn’t even know I could. And for that, I am forever grateful.Taekwondo has changed my life and who I am for the better and I am happy that I have stuck with it and decided to get my second degree. I am really glad I started Taekwondo and maybe one day I’ll be doing in college. Thus, testing for my 2nd degree is a great success.Taekwondo and My ExperiencesEver since I started taekwondo five years ago, it has been a long journey from white belt to black. Taekwondo has taken me on a path that has changed my life. I am honored to be writing this for my second degree black belt test, and even more honored to work with wonderful instructors and a great group of colleagues. To me, taekwondo is much more than a sport. It is a long going event that has impacted my life and the lives of many others.I earned my first degree black belt at the age of 11. At the time, I was young. Now, at the age of 13, I look back on my past and see how far I have come, and how I have evolved. These changes were brought on by lessons I have learned from taekwondo. For example, I learned never to give up. When I was younger, I would have been quick to throw in the towel. A series of challenges that I faced as a black belt have changed my attitude towards hardships. Taekwondo strengthened my willpower. My new mentality is to try as hard as I can, even if I do not succeed the first, second, third, or even fourth time. In summary, being a black belt has brought on positive changes in effort and attitude. When I took my first degree black belt test, I did not understand or value the term “work hard, play hard”. I did not think that there was a time to play and joke around, and another time to be serious. I would not really act seriously. I would take everything as if it were a joke. My taekwondo training has helped me realize that this was not the case. If I ever wanted to accomplish a task with full efficiency, it would require me to be serious. Now, two and a half years later, I realize this. I know that once I complete my work to the best of my abilities, I can take time off to relax and have fun. All in all, taekwondo has helped me become more successful as a person.Through my taekwondo training, I have become a better person. Through challenges and good times I can look back and see changes that have changed my life. In conclusion, taekwondo has had a positive effect on my life and I am glad to have stayed with it.
