★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1JING institute is an amazing after school program that teaches a variety of things. It teaches my child martial arts, which strengthens them and teaches balance and patience. It also teaches Mandarin Chinese which helps expand my child's mind of cultural language. My child also participates in things such as Chinese culture, where she learns about the history of China, and Dungeons and Dragons, where my child works with her friends while playing a fun game. You can also participate in things like bots, mathematics, and chemistry. I recommend this program to any children who want to learn Chinese and martial arts, and to any adults who need their children to go somewhere while they finish up work.
August 04 · Patrick DaileyMy son spent 6 weeks at JING this summer. He loved the place and learned a lot of Chinese. He made friends too. It was a good program.
August 03 · Jialing ChenI am reviewing the summer camp. My child attended two weeks of it. We live in East County but really wanted to try something different. All the activities in our area seemed like they were made just to keep children busy and they don't have academics. We wanted our child to actually learn something, especially about Chinese culture. My child enjoyed the various activities, especially art. She's not much into physical activities but she did enjoy the wushu classes. I think the schedule has a good variety of activities and I'm glad that they are indoor most of the time. My daughter had attended a camp somewhere else where she was outside all day and it just drained her energy. That was a mistake so I'll just focus on getting her into camps where she can be inside and productive. I like that there are lots of books available and that they assign some academics each day to keep the brain working. I've also sent homework with my child so that she can work on it. It's in a nice area and my daughter made a lot of friends who seem well mannered.
August 06 · John ChangMy kids have been to Jing Institute for summer camp for 3 years now. The instructors keep the sessions fun and still have instructional time for language learning and workbook time for their appropriate grade. Kids especially loved the nature walks and clay time. And exciting to see the progress in skills after their Wushu time at camp! highly recommend this summer camp. (and super fun to visit the farmer's market next door on Thursday evenings).
July 31 · Gretchen CrowsonBoth of my kids attend the JING Institute after school program and have attended the summer camp. I can't say enough good things about JING. First of all, they are super organized with school pickups. They know when all the weird, extra minimum days are, and they will call me if my son is not at the pickup location so I am never wondering if he got there safely.Second, all of the teachers are really good with kids. Miss Jing Jing has a positive, calm energy that my kids respond really well to. Also, learning wushu has been especially great for my younger son. Doing his wushu routines has become a self-regulation tool for him that works really well.Third, during camp and after-school they keep kids engaged (even my older son who is 13!) and do not let them use their phones. (Unlike many camps which will totally just let kids sit on their phones). And, they are one of the few camps I have found that offer an actual FULL DAY for working parents, not a "full day" that is actually 9am - 3pm.Finally, they get to learn Mandarin and learn about Chinese culture which I think is very cool. Even though I'm pretty sure my kids are now saying mean stuff about me in Mandarin that I can't understand!
