I also decided to sign up for the Qi Gong class to try it out. Shifu Janet Jin is an EXCELLENT teacher! She is very patient and supportive, and takes the time to explain the purpose and intent behind each movement/posture. I lOVE that! As I’m performing a movement/posture, whether it’s Tai Chi or Qi Gong, I try to remember/apply everything that Shifu Janet Jin has taught us; I try to move with intent and purpose, being mindful of my Qi. I realize I’ve only scratched the surface of Tai Chi and Qi Gong and have a long way to go. However, my balance has improved, and I feel more grounded/centered. September 01 · D DI love Janet Jin’s tai chi and qi gong classes. I’m the type of person who loses interest in things quickly, but I genuinely look forward to her classes. I’m in my mid-twenties but the classes challenge me to improve on my strength, balance, flexibility, and learn how to cultivate internal energy. If you’re used to high intensity you may find this a little boring, but I actually think slowing things down is just as hard because you encounter a whole new set of problems that don’t rely on pure strength to get through.I’ve worked with Janet and the other instructors (we’re often grouped into sections when learning the tai chi forms) for around a year, and they’ve all been helpful although they teach a little differently. They’re not strict, so it’s a casual class. You do get out what you put into it, so if you show more interest and talk to them, they will answer any of your questions and make sure you’re doing things the correct way. Doing the tai chi forms seem repetitive from an outsiders perspective but there’s always something to improve on.The qi gong classes are less focused on forms and more about individual exercises that can help with better breathing, loosening up your body, and building qi. I find it to be very intuitive and fun; it’s a good addition to learning tai chi.

She is very clear in her directions and explanation of our movements and she always asks if we have any questions. This makes learning much easier with practice. Classes are fun and the advanced students are very nice and helpful too. Since joining Tai Chi I noticed my joints move better with less pain and my balance is progressively getting better. I enjoy Tai Chi because it challenges my physical, mental and spiritual abilities to become my best self, and in this respect, Shifu is my mentor. Mahalo Shifu for your dedication to all of us.
