★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Having returned after being away for 27 years, I am very happy with my experience so far. Coleman Sensei and his higher level student teachers are all very patient and take the time to help correct your form and movements. They teach using traditional Japanese methods and etiquette, yet as a new (even though I did attend classes years ago) student I never felt like I didn't belong. Part of the experience is learning those nuances and of course they are happy to explain and help you understand both the what and the why. There are also videos available on YouTube that I would encourage anyone interested in checking out to see some examples of the things you can learn on your journey. I hope you will join!

The head instructor Michael Coleman is a world-class martial artist who is passionate about teaching.
July 12 · Michael AndersonIf you're looking for a safe place to strengthen your mind, to bolster your capabilities in defending yourself, to find peace within your soul, look no further. Sensei is an absolutely stunning human with a vast wealth of knowledge in martial arts. With dedication and patience, you too can dig deep and realize your true potential.
June 11 · Freyja NewleafI found the Futen Dojo by chance while driving by and thought I would stop in. Michael Coleman, the schools head instructor, was teaching an advanced class and I was immediately impressed with not only his skill physically, but also his knowledge of the history and ‘way’ of martial arts. I signed up for class the next day. That chance encounter was nearly nine years ago and I have been going to the Futen Dojo every week since then. In that time I have had experiences that, I believe, cannot be offered anywhere else. Even with years of experience, I learn something new in every class, which will always have me coming back for more. I am very glad to be a part of the Futen Dojo family.
July 18 · Michael WogomanLearning how to defend myself has given me a lot of peace of mind when I am out and about. I feel more aware of my surroundings and know that at least I have seen and learned techniques that will help me in the unthinkable event of an assault. This is something I had never thought about and am so thankful to have a teacher and dojo family supporting me and my personal safety. I highly recommend checking out the Futen Dojo.
