Donjitsu Do Dojo Introduce
For individuals and families in the Greer, South Carolina area, the search for a health and wellness program can lead to many different places. However, Donjitsu Do Dojo offers a truly unique and enriching experience that goes beyond physical fitness. As a traditional martial arts school, it is a place where students are guided to not only strengthen their bodies but also to cultivate a sense of inner peace, confidence, and self-awareness. Located on Milford Church Road, the dojo provides a serene and disciplined environment for learning, led by the highly respected Sensei Don Ogle. His teaching is rooted in a deep understanding of martial arts as a way of life, not just a sport, making it an ideal choice for anyone looking for a comprehensive and meaningful path to health and personal development.
The testimonials from students and their families consistently highlight the profound impact that Sensei Ogle has on their lives. One parent's review shared a deeply personal story of seeking a teacher for her 9-year-old daughter and being drawn to the "positive good energy" that radiated from Sensei Don during their first meeting. She was so impressed that she enrolled her daughter and, a few weeks later, began training in the adult self-defense class herself. This is a powerful testament to the welcoming and inspiring atmosphere of the dojo. She described her instructor as "a very wise teacher, he is strong and yet at the same time so peaceful," a rare combination that speaks to his mastery. The review also touched on the holistic benefits of the training, noting a newfound focus on "life and the energy we absorb from the Earth," which demonstrates the deep, spiritual side of the training.
Another parent, whose child has been a student for almost three years, expressed immense gratitude for Sensei Ogle's dedication and his role as a constant "example to his students as well as the parents who observe from the sidelines." The parent noted that their child has gained "confidence, inner peace, and a healthy awareness of situations," skills that are far more valuable than a simple physical workout. The review emphasizes that while students learn to defend themselves physically, they also learn skills that will "aid them throughout all of life's situations." This is the core of what makes Donjitsu Do Dojo so special; it’s a place for students to prepare themselves for life's challenges, both big and small. The environment is described as "so beautiful," a reflection of the peaceful and disciplined atmosphere that Sensei Ogle has cultivated.
The curriculum at Donjitsu Do Dojo is broad and practical, designed for real-world application rather than sport. They offer classes in traditional martial arts, self-defense, ground fighting, and even specialized training like "Verbal Judo" and "Weapons Training," which includes modern firearm learning. For women, there are dedicated self-defense classes that provide a safe and supportive space to learn critical defense techniques. The dojo also provides a variety of programs for children, including a "Baby Ninja" class and a full "After School Program," which ensures that kids can start their martial arts journey early. This variety of offerings ensures that there is a class for everyone, from those looking for a high-intensity workout to those seeking a more traditional and philosophical approach to martial arts.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I cant say enough how awesome this Dojo is!Don is very knowledgeable. I was looking for a Martial Arts teacher for my 9 yea old daughter to start training. I went to a few places, talked to a few different teachers. When i sat down with Don and he asked me what I was looking for, I's hard to explain but i could feel this positive good energy through out our conversation. I signed my daughter up for the class and a few weeks later myself was taking the adults self-defense class. I've been doing it now for almost 6 months and i do not plan on stopping! Don is a very wise teacher, he is strong and yet at the same time so peaceful. I've been learning so much, learning how to defend myself if the situation occurs or help protect someone else. Since I've been training with Don, I've been focusing on more about life and the energy we absorb from the Earth. Classes are hard but their always a great time. My daughter and I love going to classes. So many things you will learn from Don, so many different things. This environment is so beautiful.Thank you Sensei for everything!
April 08 · Fernando MedeirosMy child has been a student at Donjitsu Do Dojo for almost three years now. Over this time we have watched him learn and grow under the instruction of Sensei Ogle. We appreciate Sensei Ogle’s dedication to the lifelong study and path in this field. He is a constant example to his students as well as the parents who observe from the sidelines. He not only talks the talk, but he walks the walk right alongside the students in his Dojo. My child has gained confidence, inner peace, and a healthy awareness of situations throughout this time. My child looks forward to attending the training and practicing these skills. The students of the Dojo learn ways to defend themselves physically, but more than that, the students learn skills that will aid them throughout all of life’s situations. If you are looking for a place to learn, grow, and prepare yourself or your child for life, Sensei Ogle is the one to call.
August 13 · Jessica BellMy training with Ogle-sensei goes back twenty years. He's a rare bird with total dedication and commitment towards his art. The dojo isn't run as a business like most and the rates are very reasonable. Certainly financial profit is not his motive, instead he believes in the training he offers and its' importance. Also the dojo and grounds are traditional Japanese themed and gorgeous. If you're looking for reality based practical self defense, definitely give Donjitsu Do a shot.
November 09 · David AdamsI cannot speak more highly of this Dojo and Sensei. This Dojo is a gem tucked away in the forest of Greer. The level of care, attentiveness, and skill are unmatched. If you want to grow as a person and learn to protect yourself and loved ones there is no other place to go.
March 13 · Samantha ClarkWe have taken several self-defense classes in the past, but still felt unprepared for the reality should something happen. The catalyst that spurred us to find an instructor to help us deal with this feeling of being unprepared came in the form of an odd and startling public encounter. While the encounter was brief and nonphysical, that was only because a stranger unknowingly walked into the area which stopped the encounter as quickly as it began. It left us stressed about being in public alone (of which we had never questioned prior to that) and also left us angry. Like most women we have pepper spray, a whistle, and concealed carry. We were raised to be aware of our surroundings. That day was a revelation. They were too close to pull a weapon and the situation escalated within seconds. This led to an exhaustive search for instructors to give us the answers to our questions. We needed to know when a situation can be de-escalated and how, and when to fight. We were not only looking for physical defensive training but also the mental mindset and the ability to control the fear, adrenaline and indecisiveness in a situation. With those priorities it also brought to the forefront the need for an instructor that was invested in making us the best version of ourselves and how to survive. An instructor that wants his students to know when/ how to talk their way out of a situation and when it was time to fight. After lengthy research we came across Sensei Ogle and Donjitsu Do Dojo and sent our first contact thru his website. The fact that his first reply was “lets have a talk” intrigued us because it was different. He wanted to get to know us and not just hand us a class schedule. We have had many discussions since then with Sensei Ogle and Jenn-san. We were taught how to talk our way out of a situation and when that’s not possible. They taught us that size, strength and fitness are not the deciding factors in how to defend yourself. These are common misconceptions. This was an intensive 6 week class teaching us striking, blocking and other means to defend ourselves. It taught us how to mentally and emotionally handle a difficult encounter. It was an eye opening and tough class. For those that have dealt with the harsh reality of a confrontation this gives you the opportunity to re-write that story. Sensei Ogle and Jenn-san will give you everything you need to get thru this class. Both of them have a gift not only to instruct but to bring out your inner strength and to gain self-confidence.
