November 22 · Swire HoDefense Arts Center is the place to go if you are interested in learning or having your child learn authentic, traditional Japanese Karate. My son has been going to DAC for a year now and it's been a great experience for him. The instructor, Sensei Ty, is very professional, kind, and caring. His karate program teaches kihon (basic moves), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), as well as self-defense movements. While there are many karate dojos/training centers around this area, including Upland, Ontario, Ranco Cucamonga, etc., this is the only place where you can learn real Japanese karate-do, namely Shotokan karate, one of the four major styles of Karate that are Shotokan-ryu, Goju-ryu, Shito-ryu, and Wado-ryu.
December 06 · Shu FujitaDefense Arts Center is a great school, they have a wide variety of lessons to choose/learn from. The instructors are really supportive and helpful, they each know very well the techniques they are teaching and how to work out a person's pace. Also they are well knowledge in the fields they are teaching. The dojo is kept nice and tidy and at the same time cleaned. Overall, if you are looking for a place to learn defense arts come to this place the staff is amazing, the classes are great and the place is beautiful to train at.
September 29 · Tyler FifeOne of the best thing I've done in the recent years is signing up for Karate at Defense Arts Center in Upland. The journey has been wonderful. I get to be trained under some of the best and most dedicated teachers in this area. Sensei Ty Aponte and Sensei David Blair are particularly top notch and highly respected in the Karate community, along with many other excellent instructors. There are also other arts at this school including Jujutsu, Kendo, Iaido (Japanese swords), and Taichi, all taught by individual Master in each art. As far as martial art training, it does not get better than this.
March 12 · David DangThis is truly a wonderful dojo to come and train traditional karate. The instructors have all been great and I have learned some amazing techniques. This is a very family friendly dojo, and the pricing is very reasonable given the quality of instruction. If you want to learn genuine martial arts, you found the right place! Highly recommend!
