June 17 · Chris CorderTo be upfront in this review - I do not have a child in this daycamp or martial arts class. I felt compelled to leave this review due to the fact this daycare camp is the ONLY camp I've ever been at park where I can say we had a pleasant experience interacting withWe were at Blendon Woods the day I was writing this review, and we came upon one of the wooden structures where a lot of this daycare camp was at. Normally I would tell my kids to move on, but the kids of this camp actually asked if they wanted to use it and let them on. Some were older and some were younger, but regardless they were VERY well behaved for a daycareAlso later one of the camp leaders was courteous enough to try and let other non-camp kids use another structure he and others had just waited on forever because another daycare not affiliated with them (to my knowledge) had crowded it for an extended period. I have never witnessed this kind of respect from a daycare group at a park, and I've raised two daughters taking them to many parks over the summers with many daycares. The martial arts must be good for the kids going there, if I had to put one of mine is daycare/classes I would drive to them even though it's really out of the way for me where I live. Maybe this review doesn't do much but just wanted to say, kudos!
July 22 · TyI’m reviewing this gym from a staff/ counselor point of view that is not Korean or Male (I was told that a lot is why students and I got yelled at because of “Korean Male culture”) . I started with Darimar as their lead counselor and was told that driving a van was required in the job. I was expecting some type of paperwork for that and other onboarding files that were never given to me. (i.e; direct deposit, background check, I9 form etc) that concerned me and my significant other off the bat but I was needing employment so I continued to show up. I told the director Mr.Sam at my interview that I would return to my education and/or look for permanent employment if necessary, and that’s exactly what I did without quitting. In between those moments a mistake was made with my very first check, I requested a paper check, and was told that was able to be done then later was told that it wasn’t possible since everyone else doesn’t get a paper check. So Master Heo paid me out of pocket and said pay him back the direct deposit. There was no receipt written of any sort and I had full intentions of paying this back. Other things would happen like Mister Sam yelling at the children so bad they were scared of him, starting to cry when “in trouble” or anything regarding giving me respect as a counselor. I simply told Mister Sam how the kids were speaking of him and it was denied. But children talked about a hockey stick being broken in front of them out of anger from Master Heo, and other choice actions in front of the students. The week before I was abruptly let go for “not being able to drive” was when Master Jamien raised his voice and yelled at me for setting up games for outside. I addressed it professionally, and went to explain to Mister Sam and Master Heo how it was unprofessional, only in this moment was I told that the masters are ALL my directors/ supervisors. Once I told Mister Sam I was not only pregnant but starting a day shift position which would’ve pushed my hours back, Mister Sam said they didn’t and wouldn’t find someone else to drive. I said, I would come prepared and gave them a whole two week notice before the other position started, the following Monday I was told not to return and they would find a replacement. I JUST received my pay stubs so I had no clue if I had a pay raise my last check, which I did NOT. I’m only posting this comment because it NEEDS to be for any other future Lead Counselor or parent sending their child here for discipline, I’d happily find somewhere else. They treat people they don’t understand with disgust. I will be moving forward posting this on BBB and other accredited platforms because this got way out of hand and all of the background I have, I have NEVER seen people treat their staff and students like animals. I hope this helps someone !!!
March 15 · Jocelyn HintonMy kids and I love Darimar. The classes are well run, a lot of fun, but also challenging. The teaching is fantastic - not only do we learn all the techniques, but also the practical application for what we’re learning. It’s not just a series of movements, but movement with purpose! The instructors and staff take the time to get to know you and encourage you along the way. I can’t recommend this place enough!
July 09 · Jason WinterstellerDarimar has taken great care of our family for many years in their after school program and summer camp. They have a variety of activities and field trips to keep the kids busy, get them outside and active, with some down time, too.
