Cambridge Tang Soo Do Introduce
In the vibrant and dynamic city of Cambridge, Massachusetts, a unique martial arts school offers much more than just a physical workout. Cambridge Tang Soo Do is a community-first organization that uses the ancient art of Tang Soo Do to foster discipline, respect, and a sense of family. This is an exceptional place for anyone, from children to adults, who are looking to improve their well-being on both a physical and mental level. As one long-time student and parent attests, this is a school that teaches and fosters respect while providing "friendships that will last a lifetime." Unlike many other martial arts schools that are driven by profit, Cambridge Tang Soo Do is run by dedicated, good-hearted people who volunteer their time and effort to share their passion for the art. This fundamental difference creates a supportive and welcoming environment where the focus is truly on the individual's growth and the strength of the community.
The teaching philosophy at Cambridge Tang Soo Do is what truly sets it apart. Classes are led by an "excellent teacher and a mentor," International Master Klacko, and a team of dedicated black belt instructors who are passionate about the art. A senior student who has trained at the school for over 10 years highlights that the teachings are "fulfilling not just on a physical level but also help you excel mentally." The instructors emphasize a balance of physical strength and mental agility, helping students of all ages improve their overall well-being. The community is so strong that students who have moved away are still "drawn towards this school." This powerful sense of camaraderie and family is a key element of the experience, ensuring that every student feels supported on their journey to achieving their black belt and beyond. The fact that the instructors volunteer their time adds to the school's unique character, as the motivation is purely based on a love for teaching and a desire to see students succeed.
The school’s mission is to help all students, whether children or adults, earn their black belt while having a great time. Beyond the physical aspects of self-defense, the program emphasizes mental discipline, including focusing attention, perseverance, and goal attainment. These are life skills that help students in every aspect of their lives, not just on the training floor. One parent noted that their children have "learned the values and rewards of discipline and respect while learning self defense and practicing skills." The curriculum is carefully crafted to be effective while also being fun and engaging, especially for younger students. The atmosphere is structured but never "overbearing," which allows children to thrive. This focus on individual development and the long-term benefits of martial arts training makes Cambridge Tang Soo Do a truly valuable resource for the community.

January 14 · N BaggaA great community first and then a martial arts school that teaches and fosters respect. My oldest child has been attending the school for 8 years and the youngest for 4 years now and they have both learned the values and rewards of discipline and respect while learning self defense and practicing skills and making friendships that will last a lifetime. What truly sets the school apart from other martial art's schools around it, is that it is taught by adults who volunteer their time and effort and do not get paid for it. You only pay the gym for the access to to gym premises and that fee goes only to the gym and not to the Cambridge Tang Soo Do, so it is not based in profits but simply on the passion of good hearted people. I urge people to come and see and learn more about it.
January 18 · njish signI practiced at Cambridge Tang Soo Do for around five years and there is not one critique that I can recall. This is literally in my humble opinion the best martial arts school in the Boston area. The two things that I most like about Cambridge Tang Soo Do are:The depth of knowledge of the instructors is impressive! The ratio of senior black belts to junior students allows for excellent personalized instruction. Master Klacko provides for a great and balanced atmosphere that is not only rewarding and challenging but also stimulating. Thus, the school attracts a great group of students of various backgrounds.Unlike most other Martial Arts places that are run like a business Cambridge Tang Soo Do is run like a college. The focus is on teaching the students and allowing them to grow rather than on how much your next belt will cost. Cambridge Tang Soo Do is therefore very economical and does not have hidden costs.A review cannot adequately convey how wonderful training at Cambridge Tang Soo Do is so I would recommend that you just drop by for two FREE classes and judge for yourself.
March 26 · Sheraz ChoudharySigning up my kids (and myself) to study Tang Soo Do here is one of the best things I've ever done. I've seen my children grow into a welcoming community of martial artists, with kids their own age, role models to look up to at the teen level, and pee wees that they can themselves help, and I love watching them develop confidence, discipline, strength, mindfulness, and a sense of service. Cambridge TSD has a far higher ratio of Masters and expert instructors than other martial arts studios, and so we're constantly getting one-on-one tutoring from people who really know and love what they're doing. They also strike just the right balance between pushing the kids to focus and improve, and at the same time understanding that they are kids, and require a different approach sometimes than when training adults. And for me personally, after years of failing to exercise consistently, doing this has dramatically changed my own health and fitness. I love this place.
November 07 · Brad BedingfieldCTSD is a traditional martial arts school that caters to students of all levels. The school has a good number of masters, instructors, and many black belts which provide great focused instruction on all aspects of Tang Soo Do. My favorites are basic kicking techniques, but also include combos and sparring, but also have so much to learn in the various weapon techniques.
