★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Always a great time at Bay Area Martial Arts! Its a clean and cozy family-run gym. The adult class is an awesome workout and great way to learn technical and practical fighting and self defense skills. Not only are the Agoff's friendly and knowledgable, but the whole gym really feels like a community - the people who work out or have kids taking classes are very kind, and watching the kids in their uniforms after class is always adorable.
August 26 · Aly WeirWe have been taking my 5-year-old son to Bay Area Martial Arts for around 6 months. He loves the classes and teachers. And it is amazing how much progress he has made in discipline, fitness, and striking.
January 14 · Wes FinleyWe brought our son to this classes. Before he was a shy boy and didn't like to interact much with people. This was a great environment for him to evolve his social skills. He learned so much from Maria and Mike great teachers that thought him not only how to defend himself, but also thought him discipline. We love this class. Great place for all ages very family oriented place.
February 13 · Marlene RosalesMy 15-yr-old daughter is devoted to Mike Agoff and Bay Area Martial Arts Academy. We enrolled her in 2nd grade after she kicked a boy in an unmentionable place and we decided it was time to channel that impulse more constructively. Since then, he has nurtured her to high Purple belt and shaped her outlook on life in countless ways. From Mike Agoff, she has learned about hard physical training, patience in reaching for goals, respect for authority, attention to detail, and camaraderie in learning, among so many other important life lessons. Mike Agoff emphasizes self defense and incorporates multiple disciplines into his teachings. He doesn't give belt promotions automatically - you really have to do the work and show the commitment. And he's not one who encourages attending competitions. With him, it's the journey, the commitment to fitness and the life lessons, not the destination. He comes across as gruff but anybody who has ever watched him with kids knows that Mike Agoff cares deeply about every one who crosses his threshold. And once those kids become adults.... he's still there for them every step of the way. He's a great teacher and a gem of a person. Highly recommend him.
January 04 · Karyn EllisWonderful school of martial arts! I Mike and Sarah are outstanding teachers and truly care about the kids! They teach life lessons, respect and hard work as well as excellent martial arts skills and fitness. These skills carry over into other areas of life and sports. The repetitive teaching and practice of the shoulder roll alone has probably saved one of my sons from potentially bad falls in sports. If you are considering enrolling your child or yourself in one of their programs, just do it! You will be happy that you did.
