The Professors, James and Mitch are amazing, Mitch is another father figure to Zane. Coach Matt along with all of the rest of the coaches are just the best people and greatest role models. September 02 · Gavin DaviesWe have trained at a few gyms in Las Vegas, and we can confidently say that Atos is one of the best. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with open arms by everyone—from the professors and coaches to the students and Andressa at the front desk! 😁Starting at a new gym can be a challenge for kids, but at Atos, our daughter was embraced right away, making her transition smooth and enjoyable. The training is exceptional, with Professor James being both patient and incredibly knowledgeable. His support is invaluable; he attends every tournament for the kids, even flying to Florida to support the students competing at IBJJF Pan Kids. Professors Mitch and Coach Matt are also fantastic, creating an environment where every coach is genuinely happy to see you and truly invested in your child's success.Atos definitely stands out as one of the best gyms in Las Vegas!
August 14 · Jennifer GordonThe Atos facility itself is nice and big (3 office suites combined), well kept, and website is very functional. However, on my daughter's first class, during her 3-day trial, we were met with disappointment. My daughter was in the waiting room, fully dressed in her gi, waiting for the class to start. Mitchell, who is one the coaches, comes up and asks if it is her first day, we respond yes. Next question was 'Is that a Atos rashguard under your gi?'. I already knew where this was going and my first thought was, if you had to ask then why does it matter what rashguard she is using? They are both black and indistinguishable while the gi is on. I entertained the obvious money grab and asked if an Atos rashguard is necessary during a trial period, Mitchell responds yes and they can be rented for $5/day. So the "free" 3-day trial is not so free afterall. Whatever, I go back to the front desk, get the rashguard and have my daughter change in the female dressing room, which is honestly the size of a standard closet disproportionate to the rest of the gym. At this point, we were still excited to see what the class offered because to us that is the most important aspect of a jiu jitsu gym; not the big fancy facility, cool looking team logo, or even to a degree the notoriety of any of the owners/coaches. Parents are only able to observe their children through cameras streamed to a few TVs, with no sound, in the waiting room. Not saying this approach is wrong or right but definitely not my cup of tea and other parents in the waiting room shared the same thought. The class did start on-time and we already knew the class was shorter than other gyms (45mins vs. 1hr-1hr15mins). They spent 30mins doing bear crawls, back rolls, front rolls, and other warm-up exercises. There was zero free rolling and one technique drill. Granted, this was a intro class with several grey belts (which didn't make sense to me given the very basic stuff they did in the class) and my daughter, although still a white belt, has several stripes and found the class boring and unchallenging. She didn't even break a sweat. Just to provide reference for readers of this review, Atos is expensive. Monthly price is $250 (unless you lock yourself in to a 1-year contract, then it is $150/mo). Then there are the kids rashguards that are $52/ea and shorts that are also $52/ea. Students must wear a white gi and while, at the time of this review, students are able to purchase their own white gi outside of the gym, I was advised by one of the coaches that they will be switching over to Atos only gis. Let me guess, these will be $100+ for a kids gi LOL. I get that this is a business and someone has to pay for those 3 suites but there are honestly better gyms for the money available in Las Vegas.
