The Aikido Center of Manasquan offers exactly that. Tucked away in a wonderful location, this martial arts school is not just a place to learn self-defense; it's a community dedicated to boosting fitness, relieving stress, and fostering a sense of inner peace. Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art, is unique in its non-aggressive approach, focusing on using an attacker's own energy and momentum against them. This philosophy makes it accessible to people of all ages, sizes, and fitness levels, promoting a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
The core of the Aikido Center of Manasquan is its welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere. The dojo itself is described as a "wonderful (and affordable) place to boost your fitness, relieve stress, and learn self-defense." This welcoming vibe is a direct result of the school's leadership.

April 12 · Jillian PI can’t say enough great things about the Aikido Center of Manasquan. My son wanted to learn Aikido, so I started taking him. It looked so much fun that I joined too, and now we have a lot of fun training together. Located in the old school building beside St. Denis Church, it’s a wonderful (and affordable) place to boost your fitness, relieve stress, and learn self-defense in a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Sensei Tim Vazquez, a former police officer, brings extensive experience, patience, and kindness to every class. The classes are inclusive, with a great mix of men and women, young and old, making it a perfect place for the whole family. No matter your experience level, Sensei Tim provides just the right amount of challenge to help you grow. The vibe is warm and inviting, with a genuine sense of community that makes everyone feel comfortable. Highly recommend!
January 14 · John McAllenTook a great womens self defense class. Super informative, thorough, and instructors were kind. Looking forward to attending more classes and bringing my daughter and friends!
April 13 · Rain Mikajlo-StanleyI can't say enough good things about the self defense class I took. One of the first things Tim told us was that this class would give us confidence. Confidence that I might break away from someone intent on harming me? Yup! It's about awareness and technique, and we learned those things thanks to Tim and his advanced students who gave us opportunities to practice with different people. Someone bigger, heavier, and stronger might grab your wrists, your throat, or even knock you on your back and hold you down but there are ways to escape. I did it with my college-age daughter and some of her friends. It was a great value to learn ways to protect ourselves, and we had a lot of fun doing it. I highly recommend this class.
April 17 · Theresa KarronThe women’s self defense course I took was great!! I left feeling intensely more confident and l learned so much. I will be coming back again for sure!!
